THE ROLE: Senior Network Engineer

Job Summary:

Presidio is looking for a detail-oriented Senior Network Engineer with strong technical and leadership skills who can work in a fast-paced environment that requires a great deal of interaction among associates and executives. The ideal candidate must be a people person who can work in groups on various projects. The individual must also have strong verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable interacting with diverse people. The candidate must know the importance of time management and prioritization to manage deadlines with a great sense of detail. At the same time, also can see the "big picture," multi-task, and take the initiative when needed. The individual for this role must be comfortable with technical hands-on engineering and the ability to lead customer engagements.

The candidate must be passionate about learning new technology and want to drive technical solution direction. Ideally, the individual must work with little oversight but remain engaged with internal sales and presales engineering resources through internal collaboration tools. The ideal candidate can live in Michigan or Wisconsin.

Travel Requirements:

In this role you will be expected to travel up to 25%.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop technical architecture on behalf of Presidio around Cloud, Data Center, and Campus Networks practice technologies utilizing related manufacturers products. Refining deployment architectures presented by the Solutions Architecture Group.
  • Stay current with technology trends, customer needs, and market demand to recommend, modify and implement appropriate solution architectures to align with customer requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and objectives regarding processes, initiatives, and projects.
  • Provides technical leadership on Data Center Networks technology area to both pre and post-sales engineers
  • Primary responsibilities include performing project-based engineering, design, installation, and troubleshooting of data/security networks
  • Lead Engineer for customer projects, including design, implementation, testing, and support for new deployments, expansions, environment refresh, and upgrades. This includes troubleshooting customer environments
  • Working with the engineering team to successfully implement data center network solutions
  • LAN routing, switching, and security configuration and deployment in medium to very large environments
  • Provide network engineering consulting services, including assessment, design, and implementation of data and secure networking environments
  • Assist clients through planning, design, and implementation of data center communications networks
  • Creates technical deliverables, including network assessments, capacity planning, detailed design documents, implementation plans, configurations, and change orders.
  • Lead technical discussions to understand business requirements and translate them into functional specifications
  • Comfortable presenting to customer audience on technical design and new product enablement.
  • Develop comprehensive graphical and text-based design documentation and effectively manage the implementation process from design to customer acceptance
  • Provides peer reviews of implementations, configurations, and documentation for team members.
  • Assists other team members with deployment or best practices.
  • Engages in continuous learning to stay abreast of new and emerging technologies.
  • Obtain vendor-related certifications to enhance professional development and our corporate standing with our vendors.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge and experience with design, implementation, and support of 3 or more of the following:
    • Complex routing / switching solutions (Cisco is a must, Nexus strongly preferred)
    • Network Virtualization - VMware NSX, NFV, VXLAN, Multi-VRF and VRF-Lite
    • Production deployment experience with ACI, NSX, and SD-Access
    • Server Access Networking - Cisco UCS, vSphere Distributed Networking
    • Expert Level - Unicast Routing protocols-OSPF, EIGRP, BGP
    • Data Center Interconnect strategy - OTV, LISP, VPLS, EVPN
    • Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, IOS-XR, NXOS
    • WAN connectivity such as DWDM, MPLS, Metro-E
    • Implementation of SD-WAN, DM-VPN, Cloud connect services.
    • Load balancing solutions (F5, Citrix, HA Proxy/NGINX )
    • Cisco Meraki
  • Proficient or familiar with automation or scripting (any of the following: Python, Ruby, Ansible)
  • Must be highly knowledgeable in IP Networking, enterprise architecture, IPSec, Routers, Switches, Load Balancers, Firewalls, and other security appliances
  • Strong, soft skills preferred. This is a technical lead role with the ability to oversee customer and internal technical engineering resources for project completion and success.

Additional Desired Skills:

  • Cisco SDA, DNAC, ACI Required
  • Experience with Arista and/or Juniper is preferred
  • NextGen Firewalls/VPNs administration (Cisco/Palo Alto/Check Point /Juniper are a plus)
  • Authentication solutions including Microsoft LDAP/TACACS+
  • Familiarity with Multicast PIM Sparse/Dense, MSDP
  • Quality of Service (QOS) understanding and configuration.
  • IDS/IPS solutions (Firepower/Palo Alto a plus)
  • Malware Prevention
  • Load balancing/Acceleration solutions (Cisco, F5, Riverbed) a plus
  • Authentication solutions including 802.1x/RADIUS/TACACS and RSA
  • VMware and Citrix virtualization solutions
  • Cisco WLAN (WLCs, Prime, MSE)
  • Related experience with project deliverables from a VAR/Integrator

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and/or military experience
  • 5+ years of networking experience, including configuring, analyzing & troubleshooting complex networks
  • Cisco CCNP/CCIE certificate (or other Vendor Certification) or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience working closely with customers and collaborating with IT staff
  • Strong industry knowledge and expertise in building comprehensive solutions.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Solid documentation experience with Microsoft Visio, Word, and Excel
  • Ambitious and goal-oriented, with the initiative to work until the job is complete
