Outside Sales Representative

At Mead Lumber Company, one of our six Core Values is “Unmatched Customer Service." As an Outside Sales Rep, you will be on the front lines of making that happen.

Mead Lumber, founded in 1910, is 100% Employee Owned, and listed in the Lumber Building Materials Journal as the 18 largest Pro Contractor lumber/building materials retailer in the country. Mead operates 52 Lumber Yard, Retail, Truss Plant, and Component locations across nine Midwestern states.

Primary responsibility is to promote and sell construction materials and services to existing and prospective contractor customers. We are looking for a dependable candidate with good communication skills and a drive to excel.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Learn company products, procedures, culture and customer service philosophy.
• Learn proper procedures for day to day activities.
• Develops relationships with existing and potential customers.
• Prepare and present accurate sales proposals and quotes to prospective or current customers.
• Provide customers with knowledgeable, courteous, and prompt service at all times.
• Performs job-site visits to ensure delivery and on-time completion.
• Ensures all projects generate appropriate profit margins to justify sale.
• Coordinates all deliveries and credit pick-ups with yard dispatcher.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Experience as a sales representative in the lumber industry a plus.
• Lumber take-off experience a plus.
• Some knowledge of construction industry and local building codes preferred.
• Prioritizing, time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to the audience needs.
