Network Support & Security Specialist
The Network Security & Support Specialist will be responsible for Network Security Design Support and Network Security, Accreditation and Authorization (A&A) for a Federal Government Customer in the Northern Virginia area.  *This position is contingent upon award/funding*

In this role you will…
  • Provide recommendations for network technology solutions and standards.
  • Interact and communicate with internal and external customers as needed to clarify business, operational, or technical requirements.
  • Analyze proposed changes of system design to determine effect on overall system to effectively satisfy organizational objectives.
  • Draft and coordinates documentation of modifications for management control.
  • Provide architecture design and implementation of a globally dispersed LAN, WAN, and CLOUD solutions which include: Data Replication, Virtualization Technology, IP Networking, Routing, Switching, Firewall, Server Infrastructure, Security, and Storage Technologies.
  • Analyze existing and future systems, reviewing security architectures, and developing engineering solutions that integrate information security requirements to proactively manage information protection.
  • Create or update documentation related design activities.
  • Develop and document procedures, policies, and best practices.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to develop a roadmap that ensures that the current and planned technical solutions are compatible with the Sponsor's business needs and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure all IT systems and applications attain and maintain ATO accreditation. In addition, keep a strong and current security posture for the life of the system in support of the Risk Management Framework. Enable compliance of the Office of Security Continuous Diagnostic, Mitigation Programs, CIO and NSM directives. 
  • Provide assessment and authorization (A&A) support by the development of all documentation necessary to complete and maintain the continuing A&A process.
  • Inform project team members and users of best practices, standards, regulations and promotes security awareness to help ensure system security.
  • Develop plans to safeguard computer files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure and to meet emergency data processing needs.
  • Maintain and update the periodic vulnerability scanning schedule and accommodate ad-hoc scan request.
  • Monitor current reports of computer viruses, and updates virus protection systems.
  • Monitor  network for reports of computer viruses so that damages and / or security infractions or viruses are isolated, cleaned, and reported quickly.
  • Assist the sponsor in assessing, documentation and tracking program requirements and follow-on technical exchange meetings (TEMS).
  • Assist in the resolution of POAMs levied against the project team's information systems.
  • Monitos the use of data files and regulates access to safeguard information in security files.
  • Perform risk assessments and executes testing of data processing systems to ensure functioning of data processing activities and security measures / policies.
  • Provide strategic and tactical support with the use of Nexpose Rapid7, Web-Inspect and AppDetective in support of Sponsor's network ATO submissions.
  • Document computer security and emergency measures, policies, procedures, and tests.
  • Review violations of computer security procedures and discusses procedures with violators to ensure violations are not repeated.

Experience Requirements:
  • Previous experience as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO), Security Controls Assessor (SCA) or Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) or Certification & Accreditation (C&A) or Accreditation & Authorization (A&A) experience is required.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is desired (4 years)
Security Clearance Requirements:
  • A TS/SCI with Polygraph is required
  • CONUS and OCONUS TDY travel may be required (less than 20%)
Other Requirements:
  • May be required to move equipment/files weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Requires ability to consistently perform repetitive tasks including filing and scanning
  • May require sedentary work at least 50% of the time
  • Reports to a physical location which occasionally requires the ability to traverse between buildings
  • Ability to manage stress with a high degree of maturity/professionalism
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and leadership skills and the ability to work well with others
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Other duties as assigned
