PART-TIME PICKLEBALL COACH/PRO

DESCRIPTION

USTA Mid-Atlantic is seeking part-time Pickleball Coaches and/or Pros to provide the ultimate pickleball experience by delivering the highest quality pickleball instruction and customer service at Village Pickle in Leesburg, VA. This position reports directly to the Assistant Manager at Village Pickle. The Pickleball Coach or Pro will teach various pickleball programs to include junior programs, lessons, special events and clinics. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides beginning through advanced instruction (private and group) for all age and levels of players.
  • Assists in the promotion and facilitation of pickleball programs, lessons and events and maintains guests’ pickleball interests.
  • Administers safe, professional, and comprehensive pickleball lessons and programs to ensure players develop along a pathway that will encourage continued involvement in pickleball.
  • Ensure incorporation of pickleball rules, scoring procedures, techniques, and pickleball etiquette into programming and lessons.
  • Provide tennis programming opportunities such as lessons, clinics, and events utilizing smaller courts and modified equipment.
  • Assists in supervising play and ensures proper charging of fees.
  • Keeps accurate records of lesson schedules and player progress.
  • Enforces all club rules and regulations governing the use of the club/facility, its equipment and other property.
  • Quickly and efficiently responds to member/guest questions, comments, and concerns.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Demonstrate positive attitude and actions through a display of courtesy, service, cooperation, hospitality, sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Works at the front desk assisting guests or performs other duties as required  when not on court.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of pickleball experience required. Skill level equivalent to a minimum 3.5 USTA rating.
  • Must be able to professionally handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. 
  • Pickleball coach and/or pro certifications such as PPR and/or USPTA are preferred.
  • Within 60 days of hire must complete either the PPR or the USPTA certification program.
  • Tennis pro certification such as USPTA and/or PTR preferred.
  • CPR and AED certified within 30 days of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

  • Spend frequent time making repetitive motions; spend frequent time, standing, walking, balancing, kneeling, crouching, climbing; spend frequent time using your hands and arms to handle, reach, control, or feel objects and/or tools. Regularly lifts up to 10lbs. Occasionally lifting up to 50lbs with or without assistance.
  • Environmental Conditions: Occasionally exposed to weather conditions such as rain, hot, and cold temperatures. Exposed to moderate to loud noises when working outside or inside.

PICKLEBALL COACH / PRO FAQs

  • Who will the Pickleball Coach/Pro be working with? The Pickleball Coach/Pro will be reporting to the Assistant Manager. This position will work closely with leadership and other members of Village Pickle. 
  • How much does this position pay? How many hours is considered PT?  This position is non-exempt and paid between $30.00 – $40.00 per hour. Compensation is commensurate with experience and current certification level. This position is expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per week up to a maximum of 20 hours per week. Schedule would be based on availability and business needs. 
  •  Where will I be working? The pickleball club will be located in Leesburg, VA. This position will work onsite, but occasionally may need to attend meetings and/or training at other locations.
