Position Title: Camp Counselor 

Location: Camp Ta-Man-a-Wis- Swan Valley, ID(TAM) 

Salary Range: $80 per day 

Dates: July 15 to August 6, 2024 

*Glamp August 8th – August 19th, 4 Day per week 

 

Position Summary:  

The best, most fun, challenging job you will ever love. As an overnight Camp Counselor, you will nurture, interact, support, and create a safe and inclusive environment in which all campers will have a fun-filled, exciting camp experience. Live in a unit of campers with a co-counselor and up to 24 campers, supervise all aspects of the camper’s day, lead campers through their weekly schedule and participate/teach/assist in all activities.  

 

This position includes room and board for the length of employment.

Responsibilities:  

  • With a co-counselor, oversee a unit of up to 24 campers (ranging from ages 8 to 17) including providing activities, being a good role model and managing camper behavior. 

  • Teach camp program includes backpacking, rock climbing, Girl Scout badges, archery, outdoor cooking, fire building, teambuilding activities, hikes, overnight camping, and group games. 

  • Supervise campers and participate in off-site field trips including hiking, and horseback rides. 

  • Participate with campers during all camp activities, campfires, field trips and group games. 

  • Provide camper supervision during downtimes including meals and rest hours. 

  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with families and visitors. 

  • Assist with property upkeep including cleaning bathrooms, keeping spaces and shared materials tidy, and reporting any broken or missing supplies in a timely manner. 

  • Complete daily sanitation practices including cleaning and disinfecting surfaces. 

  • Help as needed in the kitchen with dishes, cleaning, serving meals and meal prep. 

  • Create a positive and supportive work environment. 

  • Follow all camp policies and procedures. 

  • Encourage youth participation in campfire events. 

  • Ability to go without electronic devices while at camp (excluding medical necessary devices). Camp has no electricity at night. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Skills/ Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 18 years old and have graduated high school (or the equivalent).  

  • First Aid and CPR certifications. 

  • Experience with backpacking and overnight camping preferred. 

  • Lifeguard Certification preferred.  

  • Must feel comfortable living in a rustic camp environment with extremely limited access to cell phones, electricity, and internet.  

  • Must have experience working with children. 

*Glamp employment will be as general staff at $80 per day. Duties will vary. Glamp is the adult women's camp experience fund raising weekend.
