Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director, the Toddler Teacher will plan, implement, and assess a language-rich, developmentally appropriate lessons for Toddlers which follows the NYS Child Care Regulations and Ibero's policies and procedures. The Teacher must be able to interact positively and respectfully with staff, parents, children, and colleagues, and demonstrate a commitment to the Ibero's mission.


Position is 35-40 hours per week, 12 months

• Reports directly to the Director

• Establishes and maintains good working relationship with Ibero staff, staff from related agencies, community representative and parents

• Performs periodic assessments to determine child's progress, plans and implements accordingly

• Performs initial assessment of children to determine child's progress and update educational programs accordingly using the COR

• Ensures the classroom meets required rating scale criteria

• Prepares lesson plans which are developmentally appropriate and meets High Scope Curriculum.

• Prepares individual goals for children

• Always ensures children’s safety

• Guides children in a positive and developmentally appropriate way

• Communicates daily with parents to inform them about children's progress

• Revises the curriculum and activities for the assigned area.

• Organizes and maintain classroom to ensure that it is pleasant, clean, and safe

• Prepares environment to enhance cognitive, social, emotional and physical development

• Follows Ibero's childcare policies and procedures, NYS regulations and EHS standards

• Provides a loving, warm, nutritional and clean environment

• Socializes with children during activities and at meal using family style dining

• Quietly speaks and guides children for calm transitions

• Communicates concerns to Director & FSA regarding absenteeism, health, suspicion of child abuse, neglect and/or maltreatment, developmental delays or inappropriate behavior among the children

• Informs parents and Health Advocate of any health and/or disability concerns regarding children

• Prepares reports as requested

• Attends parent/teacher conferences

• Makes home visits when needed

• Assign task to classroom break aide/volunteers

• Completes all work in a timely manner

• Attends scheduled staff meetings, parent meetings training's and center events as assigned

• Keeps knowledge of children and families confidential

• Continues to develop professionally

• Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director and/or delegates


Authority:

This position holds a relatively high degree of independence within the framework of the agency's policies and procedures. The individual must be resourceful and able to display initiative and decision-making regarding classroom activities.

Physical Demands:

The position does require occasional standing, squatting, lifting of up to approximately 40 lbs. And frequent sitting.

Education & Experience:

• CDA/AA degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

• Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschoolers

• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

• Demonstrates knowledge of child development, early childhood education and appropriate discipline methods

• Must have clearance through NYS Central Registry, good police record and health

• Valid NYS license and access to own transportation

• Must be COVID vaccinated

• Must obtain a physical exam w/TB test, fingerprinting, and State Clearance

• A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may be accepted by the
