Job Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Fire Protection Maintenance Manager. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located onsite out of our Idaho Falls, ID facility with every other Friday off. Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage the Fire Systems Maintenance Department to ensure initiatives and priorities are organizationally integrated and that decisions are based on clear vision, goals, and strategic criteria. This includes managing an appropriate inspection, testing, and maintenance program to ensure the continued operational integrity of fire protection systems, equipment, and features at all INL facilities. Provide management and direction of work control personnel and fire protection technicians located throughout town and site facilities.
  • Provide leadership following the INL Fire Protection Program and Facilities and Site Services (F&SS) strategy by applying innovative ideas for mission enablement and fire protection system maintenance. Investigate and adopt best practices and lessons learned from within and outside F&SS.
  • Manage communication with partners (e.g., Authority Having Jurisdiction, Fire Protection Engineers, Information Management, and Fire Alarm and Emergency Dispatch Center) to maximize organizational performance. Explain the consequences of maintenance decisions to customers and facilitate their understanding of maintenance activities with regard to supporting the INL mission and maintaining system integrity. Balance strategy with concerns, constraints, and needs of a variety of business units.
  • Maintain an INL and NFPA-compliant training program for fire protection personnel. Utilize resources (e.g., employees, facilities, equipment, and information) to accomplish organizational objectives. Encourage individuals to achieve their goals and, at the same time, hold them accountable. Manage effective processes to evaluate staff capabilities and skill gaps for addressing both current and future state needs. Identify and implement appropriate conduct of operations and maintenance processes to achieve goals and provide clear direction and priorities for employees.
Qualifications:Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and 12 years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree and 8 years of relevant experience OR 20 years of equivalent education and/or experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Relevant work experience includes work control, conduct of operations/maintenance, technology implementation, and managing dispersed teams.
  • Experience applying Federal, State, and Local fire codes is required with relevant NFPA training in inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems codes such as NFPA 3, 4, 10, 13, 14, 17, 17A, 22, 25, 70, and NFPA 72.
  • Experience managing integrated craft work using computerized maintenance management software (e.g., Asset Suite or similar) as a qualified/responsible Maintenance Manager.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Job Information:
  • Salary Grade: MR0300 - 230 ($124,368 - $211,596)
