Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Ground Service Equipment (GSE). Inspects, tests, and operates GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation. Services, maintains, repairs and replaces all parts of GSE type equipment. Diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications. Removes, disassembles, repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and re-installs GSE accessories and components.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include:

  1. Responsible for servicing equipment with fuel, oil, coolant, water, hydraulic fluid, and air.
  2. Responsible for operating, cleaning, inspecting, and servicing all GSE towing vehicles.
  3. Responsible for maintaining vehicle forms and spare parts inventory.
  4. Provides dispatch services for GSE including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations.
  5. Responsible for counting, sorting, and weighting incoming parts, supplies, and equipment to verify precise receipt of items as per itemized purchase orders and invoices.
  6. Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs GSE. Advises and performs troubleshooting on GSE before assigning repair action. Inspects and approves completed maintenance actions.
  7. Prepares GSE for storage and mobility deployment.
  8. Uses automated maintenance system to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions.
  9. Analyzes and repairs GSE using conventional and digital multimeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers and hand tools.
  10. Maintains external fuel and grounding systems. Stores, handles, uses, and disposes of hazardous material and waste according to environmental standards.
  11. Responsible for storing all GSE parts, supplies, and equipment in their assigned locations according to identifying information such as style, size, or type of material. Ensures all hazardous material (HazMat) items are properly stored as per federal, state, and local policies and assists with monitoring HazMat.
  12. Plans and organizes GSE maintenance activities. Establishes production controls and standards. Determines resource requirements, including facilities, training, equipment, and supplies. Determines equipment serviceability criteria where it does not exist.
  13. Conduct GSE training to facility assigned personnel.
  14. All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Prefer two (2) years of aircraft ground service equipment experience in the last five (5) years.

LANGUAGE ABILITY:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATH ABILITY:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Microsoft office, internet software, e-mail, Management Information System for Aviation (MISA) software.
