Accountabilities

This position reports to Manager, OMS/Mapping Systems. Responsible for the upkeep of all Mapping and Geographical Information System (GIS) related systems as it relates to the Liberty Utilities infrastructure.

* Create, edit, and maintain GIS data. Includes data collection, input, and linkages to various databases/images. Update and maintain various GIS data, including the street centerline, parcel, subdivision, and utility data. Inputs data from contractor data, surveyor data, engineering plans, and subdivision plans.

* Sound working knowledge of data creation, data processing, and map production, using a combination of Hexagon's G/Technology, GeoMedia, and Map Enterprise as well as ESRI's basic products, Arc GIS Pro, Utility Network Manager and ArcGIS Enterprise tools applications and other GIS extensions. Support other departments with Maps, Buffer Notifications, and CAD drawings.

* Works during emergency situations and use various GIS tools to analyze data for managerial and operational needs.

* Provide maps and figures to other departments as needed.

* Conducts mapping research in the field and in the office. Resolves conflicting information and ensures the accuracy of the data. Performs Global Positioning System (GPS) field data collection, post-processing, and data storage

* Carries on a wide variety of drafting assignments involving such activities as analyzing field notes and technical data; designing and developing drawings and maps; completing various engineering drawings of equipment, systems, and installations. Manage data received from Field Operation's contractor of proposed and as-built drawing files for use in GIS applications.

* Assist in the creation and maintenance of an electronic and a historical record file system, LMS (Leak Management System) or equivalent and assisting with the Gas or Electric Planning Engineering records.

* Perform maintenance and management of all CAD files. Maintain familiarity and support of work order life cycle and process flow.

* Work with the Liberty Enterprise GIS core team to ensure the gas system's GIS needs are met in the Enterprise GIS migration project that will utilize the ArcGIS Enterprise suite of tools as well as reviewing and testing of the migrated existing gas system data into the new Esri Utility Network platform.

* Develops advanced knowledge of system integrations between Customer First tools to enable effective data management - including DDS, GIS, and SAP EAM

* Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college, university, or technical institution with major course work in Geographic Information Systems, plus three years of practical GIS experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform assigned work required.
  • Utility industry experience is preferred.
  • Proficient utilization with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) required.
  • Strong skills in the use of computer and peripheral equipment required.
  • Results-driven, with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
  • Responsible for maintaining supplies for plotters, wide format printers, and scanners required.
  • Ability to analyze field notes and technical data; design and develop drawings and maps; completing various engineering drawings of equipment, systems, and installations required.
  • Well-developed verbal, written, communication and presentation skills required.
  • Flexible with traveling to other company sites and locations.
  • Driver's license required
