Description

The Highwoods Properties internship is a semester-long, hands-on, paid learning experience that offers meaningful and practical work related to the student's career interests in a professional environment. The internship will allow the student to engage deeply in different areas of the commercial real estate industry.

Interns will have an opportunity to increase their knowledge of and skills in one or more functions:

  • Leasing
  • Property Management
  • Asset Management
  • Construction
  • Marketing & Communications
  • Customer Service

This internship will be full-time; Interns will receive an hourly rate. The summer term is May 2024 - August 2024. The intern will work from the Orlando Divisional Office

Construction

  • Update, file, and organize the hard-copy drawings
  • Organize the finish samples (paint, tile, base, laminate)
  • Work with the Construction Admin to streamline the Construction Log and update the Permit Log
  • File Notices to Owner

Leasing

  • Work with the Lease Coordinator on lease abstracting
  • Update Competitor Stacking Plan book
  • Costar/Loopnet research
  • Work with Marketing on Ricoh virtual tours for vacant suites
  • Attend showings with the Director of Leasing
  • Attend Building Team meetings with Property Management, Leasing, Construction & Maintenance
  • Join leasing on kick-off calls and meetings with architects for Space Planning

Property Management

  • Update building floor plates using the information contained in the marketing folders
  • Shadow each group of individuals on the management/maintenance/parking team
  • Work with the team on establishing & identifying new standard operating procedures (SOP) and update existing SOP's
  • Working with the Property Managers to update the Building Standard Specifications to ensure consistency in all buildings throughout the portfolio.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate junior or rising junior-level student who possesses the desire to work in the commercial real estate industry.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office product knowledge - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • General business experience
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid written and oral communication skills
  • Motivated to learn.
