We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Linux Engineer to join our clients dynamic team in Herndon, VA.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 11+ years of experience in Linux administration and engineering, with expertise in Red Hat and its derivatives, including CentOS, RHEL, and RockyOS.

Bachelors or Masters degrees are preferred, along with a strong background in shell scripting, Linux command-line manipulation, and engineering infrastructure support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform systems engineering and software development in multiple large enterprise server environments, with a focus on Linux, Red Hat, and CentOS.
  • Provide technical guidance in software engineering techniques and automated support tools.
  • Analyze functional business applications and design specifications for functional activities.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation at both program-level and user-level.
  • Assist in establishing standards for information systems procedures.
  • Conduct technical evaluations and analysis to support decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with technical leads to assess server loads and develop tuning recommendations.
  • Fulfill operational duties including providing pager/phone duty support and completing day-to-day Operations & Maintenance tasks.
  • Perform operating system software updates, upgrades, and patches in accordance with best practices.


Requirements
Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python, Ruby, Bash, and PHP programming languages.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Familiarity with configuration management software, including Ansible, Puppet Manifests, and Foreman.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing models, including PaaS, IaaS, and SaaS.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and OpenShift (CaaS).
  • Understanding of the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) and its deployment in enterprise environments.

  • TS/SCI Full Scope Polygraph Required
