Job Title: Shop Apprentice

Department: Service

Reports to: Service Manager

Summary

The role of a Shop Apprentice is that of a technically knowledgeable person who can work independently and within a team to gain the knowledge to repair Dealers makes and styles of equipment

Essential Functions:

  1. Clean mechanical parts and components
  2. Disassembly and assembly of components.
  3. Repair of small tools
  4. Assist in rental department with inspections and check ins of equipment
  5. Remove, assist with rebuild, and install components from equipment and engines.
  6. Effectively use rebuildable guideline information to make sound judgment decisions in reuse of components
  7. Load/unload components, parts and equipment.
  8. Transport components, parts, and equipment as directed around the facility and to job sites as needed.
  9. Locate and use service manuals and technical information.
  10. Accurately prepare service reports as required.
  11. Communicate details of technical problems to supervisors.
  12. Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems through online and classroom training.
  13. Use safe working practices.
  14. Performs other related tasks and activities as directed.
  15. Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
  16. Able to supply basic hand tools

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

The technician must have one of the following:

Two year’s experience in handson mechanical repair work with diesel or gasoline engines, or earthmoving or industrial equipment.

Graduation from an accredited technical school with emphasis on diesel engine or earthmoving repair may be substituted for experience.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Uses parts ordering system.

Uses service publications

Maintains personal time cards

Maintains inspection, quality, and service reports

 

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Type: Full Time

Schedule:

  • 8-10 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday, weekend rotation
  • On call
