PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

Program, setup, test, and revise programming for various machines to create bio-compatible healthcare devices


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Under direction from Engineering Management, work closely with the R&D and Engineering team to program new projects and enhancements for existing projects
  • Program one or more computer numeric control machines to perform drilling, reaming, tapping, milling, boring, and other machine operations over a wide range of surfaces, diameters, and depths for approved prototype designs.
  • Utilize the pre-established methods that are automatically preprogrammed for the positioning in all axes and changing of preset tools.
  • Determine proper operations sequences, select, and adjust tools in adapters, and mounts in storage matrix (drum.)
  • Setups may be complicated and will require milling to exact tolerances
  • Provide support and evaluation of new and existing designs for potential improvements in quality and efficiency
  • Setup and operate the machines on a trial run to verify the accuracy of machine settings and programmed control data
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines as required
  • Verify the conformance of finished workpieces to specifications using measuring and inspection tools as necessary. Make mechanical and/or program adjustments to ensure parts are meeting quantity and quality requirements
  • Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems
  • Solicit and assess customer and patient feedback to improve designs and assure biocompatibility
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities, particularly in lean manufacturing, and use lean process analysis tools
Requirements:

EDUCATION

REQUIRED:

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience

PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL

REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 2 years of CNC Programmer experience
  • Cutter path verification experience
  • Basic knowledge of plastics and plastic mold interaction
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and Master-Cam
  • The ability to work with mathematical concepts such as portability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Must have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations

PREFERRED:

  • 5 years of CNC Programmer experience
  • Experience with Hurco machines and Win Max Controllers
