Looking for an exciting and rewarding career in commercial construction? We are seeking experienced Carpenters for construction projects in our DC Metro, Mid-Atlantic region. Candidates should have a wide variety of rough and finish carpentry skills and someone who loves thinking outside the box. Essential Functions

  1. Prepare the layout of the project.
  2. Estimate height, width, length and other proportions.
  3. Select appropriate work materials.
  4. Work from blueprints, drawings or instructions from supervisors.
  5. Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy (Quality Control).
  6. Work with varied materials including but not limited to wood, plastic, fiberglass or drywall.
  7. Utilize tools including, but not limited, to chisels, planes, saws, drills, sanders to erect and repair structures, levels, rulers, plumb bobs, framing squares, surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure, and other carpentry tools.
  8. Able to join materials with nails, screws, staples or adhesives.
  9. Check work along the way to ensure it meets all code and specification requirements.
  10. Work on top of stilts, ladders, and the top beams of buildings.
  11. Performs the building of handrails, steps, drilling, patching, and light concrete work.
  12. Builds stairs, temporary doors, ramps, temporary walls, etc.
  13. Erects various types of scaffolding including pipe and safety barriers, and make provisions on scaffolding for moving and handling materials needed for the job.
  14. Creates structures for pouring concrete.
  15. Install partitions, doors, and windows.
  16. Install or replace panes of glass, ceiling tiles, and doors.
  17. Install base, cabinets, and crown moldings.
  18. Keep immediate working area clean. Must use broom and wheelbarrows and follow material procedures.
  19. Properly plan and execute specific work as directed.
  20. Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy (Quality Control).
  21. Read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
  22. Able to look at flat drawings and understand how they would look as solid objects.
  23. Identify safety hazards for you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.

Work Environment

The work is completed outside at the construction site, renovating occupied facilities such as hospitals, labs, nursing homes, etc. The position is often exposed to sounds and loud noises, such as construction equipment. The job requires they wear protective equipment when on the construction site (hardhats and safety glasses). Temperatures and conditions may vary depending on the weather and seasons.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, tolerate heights, and able to talk and hear other employee talking. The employee must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly. Expected Hours of Work

Full time, more than 40-hours a week. May work nights and weekends, construction may sometime continue around the clock to meet deadlines.

Travel

Must have reliable transportation. Must be willing to travel 60 miles a day dependent on project location relative to where the employee lives.

Required Education and Experience

  1. There are no minimal educational requirements.
  2. Minimum two (2) years in construction carpentry experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Have general knowledge of basic carpentry and hand tools.
  2. Five (5) years of construction carpentry experience.
