DevOps Engineer

Space Ground System Solutions (SGSS), a Parsons company, has an immediate full-time opening for a DevOps Engineer at our office in Alexandria, VA. Our focus is to provide our customers with practical state of the art solutions to complex communications, command, control and intelligence systems. We currently provide engineering services to the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in support of: spacecraft design, development, integration, and test; satellite pre-launch, launch and mission operations; network design, development, and administration; and terrestrial observation applications for naval field units.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Must meet eligibility requirements associated with obtaining a DoD Secret clearance.
• Must be a US citizen
• 5-8 years' experience
• Expertise authoring application deployment tools utilizing ansible/chef/puppet/terraform/packer or equivalent tools
• Expertise in kubernetes and writing helm charts
• Practical experience on RedHat Enterprise Linux
• Practical experience with Podman and Buildah utilities and building containers
• Demonstrated history of teamwork and service skills
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, to supported staff, management, and government customers.
• A fundamental understanding of the software development lifecycle and the processes and tools utilized
• Understanding of all layers of software engineering and system architecture.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Writing scripts (examples: shell scripting, python, PERL, etc.)
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
• Software configuration management tools (examples: git, BitBucket, Jira, etc.)
• Documenting test results for corrective actions
• Interacting with databases (examples: MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience developing and/or deploying to cloud / virtualization platforms including RHV, vSphere, OpenStack, Kubernetes etc.
• Satellite Ground Systems, Ground System Operations, or Satellite Operations
