Descriptive Summary:

The Bowen Group, a values-led, industry leader in strategic communications, telehealth, health communications, and wellness services and staffing is searching for a Digital Media Specialist.

This is a full-time position located in the following states*

The Bowen Group has an outstanding opportunity for a Digital Media Specialist to join our team supporting the Department of Defense Office of Financial Readiness. CORE FUNCTIONS:

Responsibilities of the Digital Media Specialist will be carried out in a remote work setting, and will include the following:

  • Assist with the development of monthly social media content calendars based on monthly and quarterly themes, client initiatives, and awareness events.
  • Creates ad hoc social media posts as requested or based on current events.
  • Performs daily media social media monitoring for potential ad hocs.
  • Supports online social media events such as X chats, Facebook Town halls or Instagram Q&As as requested.
  • Assist with the management of existing social media platforms (FB/Meta, YouTube, Instagram, X and LinkedIn).
  • Moderates social media direct messages and comments daily and prepares replies as needed.
  • Supports the development and execution of a paid social media strategy and recommendations as directed.
  • Assist with the management of the social media boosting recommendations and process.
  • Provides monthly social media reports and metrics.
  • Supports Reporting Specialist with data for quarterly and campaign reporting, and as requested.
  • Supports the digital strategist in social media strategy development
  • Ensures completeness, correctness, and readability of materials, as well as alignment of individual materials to overall organizational or program communication goals.
  • Provides content development support for communications team as requested (content may include, but is not limited to, podcasts, articles, fact sheets, infographics, slide decks, scripts, memos, and meeting minutes).
  • Conducts research on new opportunities for platform growth and develops social media strategies to maximize the effective execution of communication and outreach capabilities.
  • Oversees and manages the monthly eNewsletter program including pouring content, internal testing, publishing monthly reporting

Skills in:

  • Managing social media platforms.
  • Using social media and media monitoring tools such as Sprout Social.
  • Applying the rules of spelling, composition and grammar to writing or editing tasks.
  • Following specific style guides while writing and editing content.
  • Writing content to maintain a consistent style and format across projects.
  • Engaging users and growing the platform follower base.
  • Maintaining the organization's online image.
  • Tracking and reporting metrics on material's performance.
  • Optimizing the platform's features to express messages effectively.
  • Zoom or other video conferencing platform.
  • Sprout Social or similar scheduling software.
  • eNewsletter management and publishing.

Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively to meet the needs of the audience.
  • Stay current on changes to social media and opportunities for growth.
  • Stay in daily communication with the Communications team.
  • Research information in support of social media content development requirements and apply knowledge gained when writing.
  • Incorporate feedback and apply it consistently across projects.
  • Generate content for online publication.
  • Collect and analyze customer requests.
  • Manage time to meet task milestones and deadlines.
  • Generate a number of promotional ideas and solutions.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

  • Engage, support and collaborate with other members of the team, the company and the customer. Exchange ideas and strategies to plan work processes or developmental efforts. Review and provide feedback on developed work or planning.

Program Support

  • Plan, develop or conduct project tasks by leveraging subject matter expertise. Perform project tasks in accordance with best professional judgment, contract requirements, and established timelines and with the expected level of quality.

Analysis and Strategizing

  • Seek or develop guidance from customer insight and customer-furnished documentation. Coordinate with managers on executing project activities.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree. Experience exceeding the minimum may be substituted for education. Likewise, education exceeding the minimum shown may be substituted for experience.
  • Work Experience: 5 years of applied experience: Background writing a wide variety of content types and supporting an organization's social media presence. Writing and social media-related experience can be demonstrated through positions held with different organizations.

Industry Knowledge:

  • Structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
  • Applicable style guides, such as the Associated Press Stylebook.
  • Principles and processes for providing internal customer services, including needs assessment, meeting quality assurance standards, and resolving internal and external customer requests.
  • Knowledge/understanding of Military audience and available programs and services
  • Posting best practices for various social media platforms.
  • Principles and methods for expressing the organizational brand online.
  • Principles and methods for promoting the organization.
  • Administrative and clerical procedures in accordance with the company's best practices.
  • Terms and concepts commonly expressed in the Armed Services and federal government.
