The opportunity:

The Sr Director, Strategic Sourcing will join ORBCOMM to enhance our procurement strategy, reporting to the SVP, Integrated Supply Chain. We are looking for a self-reliant leader, capable of driving change through action and influence. This role will be focused on leading strategic sourcing and managing direct and indirect spend for our global operations by building and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

What you can expect:

  • Leading strategic sourcing for both direct (raw materials, finished goods, and component parts) and indirect spend categories.
  • Sourcing Execution including RFI/RFP processes, supplier consolidation, negotiations, contracting, and alternative supply identification (low-cost country).
  • Contract negotiations with direct and indirect suppliers including policy, Procure-to-Pay, supplier management, and establishing payment terms.
  • Implement supplier programs including VMI, strategic inventory agreements to reduce raw material lead times.
  • Category Strategy including spend analysis, category planning, target setting, and design-for-value.
  • Supplier Management including supplier quality and performance management; selection, scale-up, and management of vendor relationships to include regular business reviews (QBR’s), order accuracy (BOM), material availability (upon PO approval) and quality tracking.
  • Work closely with design engineering to identify new suppliers & to drive target BOM cost for NPI’s and VE/CE projects on existing products to drive material productivity.
  • Establish, manage and report on KPIs including material productivity, WALT, Raw Material inventory turns etc.

Must-have Skills:

  • Experience working within consumer electronics and electrical component organizations.
  • Experience working within manufacturing environments that have invested in modern, high-performing procurement functions.
  • Experience leading strategic sourcing and procurement programs.
  • Proven ability to tie procurement results to finance/P&L.
  • Experience dealing with Contract Manufacturers & leading contract negotiations.
  • Ability to actively contribute to the buildout of a robust SIOP process.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
