Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalent. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required for this job. The employee must have the ability to operate computer systems. The employee must be friendly and personable.

Basic Function:

The employee is part of the front office team and will be required to perform any and all duties of the front office. The employee is responsible for registration including greeting patients, securing and entering accurate data as required, answering the phones, scheduling appointments and routing calls appropriately, processes release of records to patients and to other facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides great Customer Service by welcoming patients and maintaining a positive atmosphere in waiting room.
  2. Check-in patients - Identify visit type, update computer with patient demographics, secure copies of insurance card and inputs insurance information, collects co-pay, obtain required forms for visit type and provider and creates visit in EHR.
  3. Check-out patients - addresses any additional balance or bad debt balance with patient and try to collect or make a pay agreement. Schedule patient for a return appointment.
  4. Shares the responsibility of keeping work area, waiting room and patient restroom tidy.
  5. Processes release of records appropriately.
  6. Tracks no-shows in the electronic record, along with mailing no-show cards.
  7. Reports daily numbers and performs daily close.
  8. Answers incoming calls and routes appropriately.
  9. Schedules appointments. This includes entering and updating patient data in the computer system and informing patients of any preparation needed for the visit.
  10. Performs additional tasks, as assigned.
