While demonstrating Organizational Excellence, and under the direction of the Chief Retail Banking Officer, the Business Development Team Lead provides supervision, mentoring, and coaching to Business Development Officers; meets deposit, cash management, and cross-sell referral goals; generates and refers small business and commercial loans. Participates in appropriate community and networking activities; develops a network of centers of influence and regularly participates in community and networking activities as a representative of the credit union. Interfaces with the Regional Managers, branch sales and service personnel, St. Mary's Financial Services (SMFS) Reps and commercial loan officers, to generate new business member deposit and loan opportunities. In conjunction with the Training Department, develops training for Business Services to ensure sales and support staff maintain service delivery standards.


Standards of Performance and Goals:

  • Supervises, mentors, and coaches the Business Development Officers to support their professional development and achievement of individual sales goals. Provides leadership for the development and implementation of the Business Banking sales plan in support of deposit, cash management, and cross-sell referral goals.
  • Adheres to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards, requirements and policies. Recommends deposit pricing and promotional offers to drive business development results. Reviews and recommends improvements to cash management procedures, service and maintenance, pricing, and marketing plans for expanding new or existing member base and deposit product usage.
  • Interfaces with the Regional Managers, branch sales and service personnel, SMFS reps and commercial loan officers, to generate cash management and deposit opportunities including supporting CU at Work Program. Sources and refers small business and commercial lending opportunities.
  • Continually develops a network of financial institution participants and Centers of Influence (COI) for quality referral opportunities, including CPA's, lawyers, commercial real estate brokers, and other professionals. Sets a well-defined marketing strategy for the team to achieve sales goals. Represents the credit union at community events and volunteer opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 10 years or more of work experience in retail and/or business banking.
  • Successful experience in small business development required.
  • Working knowledge of cash management services and deposit operations.
  • Ability to work effectively, develop and train Business Services sales and support staff to maintain service delivery standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective organizational and analytical skills, coupled with computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of Credit Union market area and member base preferred.
  • Possess strong initiative & the ability to present a polished, professional image to the membership and community.
  • Travel required.
