Position Overview:

Under the general direction of the Supply Chain Planning Manager, the Supply Planner must be able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment to ensure that assigned suppliers exceed AOBC standards for quality, delivery, and price. The Supply Planner is responsible for supporting all in-bound supply-chain activity and coordinating this activity with Transportation, Logistics, Assembly, Sales, Engineering, and other areas of business. The role maintains purchase orders and delivery schedules in the ERP system. Requires daily interaction with suppliers, procurement of replenishment stock and maintenance of good inventory levels and controls. The job requires handling complex situations related to supplier interactions as well as resolving issues affecting AOB supply chain efficiency and reliability. The role requires independent decisions to maintain appropriate levels of safety stock, minimize order quantities, and ensure quoted lead times are adhered to.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the S&OP team to ensure timely availability of existing and new products and components.
  • Procure product to fulfill the company’s inventory and service level goals (release and manage POs & work orders)
  • Manage day-to-day performance of a group of suppliers.
  • Manage significant spending dollars through purchase orders to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Analyze inventory performance relative to company goals.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and paperwork errors.
  • Report delivery status, issues and propose solutions.
  • Analyze and control inventory, track obsolescence, and make recommendations to management on inventory management strategies. Coordinate product changes and substitutions
  • Miscellaneous data entry, analysis, and reporting
  • Maintain ERP system and data.
  • Coordinate inventory and purchasing activities between purchasing, sales, marketing, logistics, assembly, engineering, and operations.
  • Facilitate functionality of major computerized systems—SAP (ERP system)
  • Assist Financial Services in the scheduling of payments to suppliers.
  • Special projects related to the supply chain.
  • Create orders for both in-house assembly and outside sub-contracting.
  • Analyze and recommend Economic Order Management Policies.
  • Work safely and identify and report any safety hazards immediately.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in personal area and all commons areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Education: bachelor’s degree in business/Supply Chain Management or commensurate experience
  • Experience: 2+ years of work experience; must have experience in Supply Chain, Finance or Manufacturing in plant and experience working as a Buyer or Planner; ERP system experience preferred
  • Beginning to Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office

Physical Demands:

  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Some work is required "off-hours" for business meetings/company events.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time in front of a computer.
  • Ability to move about facility on regular basis to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, or walking.
  • Visual and hearing acuity.
  • Up to 5% domestic travel
