Commercial/Landlord-Tenant Litigation Attorney

The firm supports national, regional and local clients and works collaboratively, across practice groups, to respond to all of their legal needs.

Shulman Rogers seeks a Commercial Real Estate Litigation Attorney. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years' experience as an attorney with general civil and real estate litigation experience, and general management of case files.

Responsibilities Include:

• Handle a diverse range of routine commercial/Landlord-Tenant court hearings.
• Ensure compliance with housing-related regulations.
• Engage in dispute resolution and, if necessary, litigation proceedings.
• Support a senior associate and collaborate closely with several shareholders.
• Assist during all phases of the litigation process, from investigating claims, initiation/defense of a case, discovery, and through trial.
• Prepare and draft a variety of dispute or litigation-related documents (including discovery, pleadings and correspondence).
• Communicate effectively with clerk offices, clients, opposing attorneys and other team members via phone and email.
• Conduct legal research, including identifying relevant case law, determining proper legal parties to lawsuits and statuses of cases with courts.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the DC state bar (VA and MD a plus) and in good standing. If not a member of the MD bar, ability to become one.
• Minimum of three years of experience practicing litigation, landlord tenant based litigation a plus.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
