Job Details:

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Permanent Hybrid Legal Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a legal environment, preferably in a heavy litigation firm. The position requires extensive knowledge of maintaining case files, conducting state and federal filings online (ECF/Pacer), using Compulaw docketing, and monitoring deadlines. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining the attorneys' calendar, coordinating billing, preparing and updating case status reports for clients and attorneys.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and organize case files in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Conduct online state and federal filings using ECF/Pacer.
  • Utilize Compulaw docketing system to manage and monitor case deadlines.
  • Maintain the calendar for attorneys, ensuring no deadlines are missed.
  • Coordinate billing, ensuring all invoices are accurate and sent out in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and update case status reports for clients and attorneys, providing regular updates on case progress.
  • Prepare folders for paralegals and attorneys, ensuring all necessary documents are included.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring all correspondence is responded to in a timely manner.
  • Conduct legal research as necessary.
  • Use legal case management software to track case progress.
  • Use cm/ecf filing system to file court documents electronically.
  • Provide litigation support, including preparing legal documents, assisting with discovery, and organizing exhibits for trial.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal environment, preferably in a heavy litigation firm.
  • Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation experience.
  • Proficiency in using Compulaw, Nuance, ChromeRiver, and TOC/TOA.
  • Experience in legal case management and cm/ecf filing.
  • Strong skills in legal document preparation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to multitask and handle high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong research skills and knowledge of legal research tools.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, paralegal certification a plus.
