Opto-Mechanical Technician

Position: Opto-Mechanical Technician
Location: Chino, CA (onsite)
Pay Rate: $22-$28/hr DOE
Shift: 8:00 to 5:00 or 7:00 to 4:00pm PST

Seeking an Opto-Mechanical Technician in our Chino, CA location. This position will report to the Manufacturing Manager and join a team of technicians who are responsible for assembly and testing of optical and/or mechanical components. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Mechanical assembly, optical alignment, and soldering of optical head assemblies in accordance with written procedures and drawings.
• Edit travelers, test data sheets, and tracking documentation.
• Perform testing using temperature chambers, shaker tables, and another environmental test equipment as required.
• Under the direction of engineers, perform complex testing tasks including measurement using various optical sources, wavelength meters, polarization measurement equipment, optical power meters, voltmeters, and return loss equipment.
• Edit troubleshooting logs.
• Set up and maintain alignment station equipment, soldering irons, rework equipment, fusion splicers.
• Organize and keep tidy assembly stations and test stations.
• Suggest corrections to assembly procedures, test procedures, and other manufacturing and engineering documentation.
• Support other product lines by doing fusion splicing on systems and components.

     
Other Responsibilities

• Testing and assembly for the electronic line and mechanical line.
• Support R&D with special project assembly and test.
• Support Quality Management System
• Support good health and safety practices
• Support other departments as required
• Other duties as assigned by Management

EDUCATION REQUIRED: 
High School required; 2-year technical degree highly desirable.


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 
1 - 3 years of electronics and or small assembly experience.

• Experience working in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experienced in small optomechanical fabrication, optical alignment, hand soldering, rework, fusion splicing, and operation of basic optical test equipment.
• Able to read procedures, mechanical drawings, and system diagrams.
• Must be a good team member with a positive attitude and cheerful disposition.
• Should be comfortable working under pressure to tight deadlines on a daily basis.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

• Approximately 90% of the work is performed on the manufacturing production floor. The remainder is spent at various locations including the R&D lab, inventory stock room, and IQC area.
