Equipment Operator I/Truck Driver - CDL Required

Job Summary

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill an Equipment Operator I / Truck Driver vacancy at the Solid Waste Management Facility. This position will operate track loaders, excavators, wheel loaders, material handlers, articulated truck roll-off trucks, and street flush trucks for landfill recycling operations. Duties also include, but are not limited to, the maintenance of equipment, housekeeping of recycling facilities, and snow removal. This position may be required to work holidays.

This position is eligible for a $3,000 hiring bonus in accordance with the County's Hiring and Retention Bonus Program.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; two (2) years of related work experience in the operation of commercial vehicles, heavy trucks, and heavy equipment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valid driver's license and good driving record is required. A valid Class "A" or "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required, with Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N), or able to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Bilingual English/Spanish is desired. Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Successful candidate will undergo criminal background check, DMV record check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. The CDL component must comply with the Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Program as outlined by Loudoun County's Alcohol & Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees.

Must be available to work rotating schedule of Mon-Sat and Tues-Fri from 7:30am - 5:00pm. Subject to recall or being held beyond scheduled workday. This position is considered "essential" and must be available to respond to County emergencies (24/7) as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal directive. Work is primarily outdoors during all weather conditions.
