The Nurse Manager Labor Delivery will work for a 300+ bed academic acute care hospital that’s known for providing a full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient services. Notable specialized services offered at this 350+ acute care hospital include their neurology program, cancer care, cardiac surgery, trauma center, rehabilitation services, emergency medicine, and women’s center. 

This hospital is known for their Women and Children Service Line, including their Labor and Delivery unit, Mother Baby Postpartum unit, their Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, outpatient OB/GYN clinics, and Parent Education programs. The Nurse Manager Labor Delivery will be accountable for the Mother/Baby Postpartum unit, reporting to the Divisional Director of Women and Children Services. The Mother Baby Postpartum unit offers private rooms that are designed to create a calming, inviting environment for new mothers and their newborns. New mothers have the option to “room-in” with their baby or utilize the newborn nursery. With over 3,000 births a year, this state-of-the-art unit is fully equipped with the most advanced technology and a postpartum team of registered nurses, nursing support technicians, clinical nursing students, volunteers, and social workers. The department also offers 24/7 accessibility to on-call Obstetricians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Midwives, Neonatologists, along with a team of specialized nurses and ancillary staff. 

 

The Nurse Manager Labor Delivery will have clinical and administrative responsibilities for the Mother Baby Postpartum unit. Responsibilities of the Nurse Manager Labor Delivery include managing the budget, department staffing (screening, interviewing, hiring, and scheduling), preparing accreditation and survey material, ensuring state and federal regulatory compliance, updating policy procedures, developing educational curriculum, and cross collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including (but not limited to) the Nurse Manager Mother Baby, Nurse Educators, Staff RN, LPN, technicians, physicians, social workers, ancillary staff, and more. 

 

The Nurse Manager Labor Delivery must be a seasoned nurse holding their RN license, prior Director, Nurse Manager, Nurse Educator, Assistant Nurse Manager, or Supervisor experience overseeing an inpatient Labor Delivery or LDRP unit. The Nurse Manager Labor Delivery will have strong interpersonal skills as they lead the postpartum mother baby team, cross collaborate with multidisciplinary specialists, and communicate with new mothers and families as needed.
