Sr Cost Accountant - position located in Wasco, CA

General Description-Purpose of Role:

The role will assist the Corporate Controller in daily accounting activities to include but not limited to answering accounting inquiries, processing internal/external requests, researching on GAAP codification, identifying risk, and implementing appropriate control to mitigate exposures. Be an instrument to maintain accountability in financial resources of the organizational budget to include all aspects of business operation. Provide insightful support to the current or prospective operating levels by compiling financial data and analyzing possible/alternative decisions from a financial perspective. The Sr. Cost Accountant will report directly to the Corporate Controller.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Include, but not limited to:

· Assist with crop cost management including std rates, raw product entries, review/analyze farming overhead, water allocations, all farming inventories, planting/listing entries, other farming operation related entries and other duties.

· Manage Accounting and Close Processes - Financial Reporting and Analysis:

· Work with feed inventories including, monthly entries, physical inventory reconciliations, etc.

· Learn all daily processes from pullets and production to shipping.

· Maintain all files necessary for pullet and production reporting and assure all accounting entries, reconciliations, and reports are completed as required.

· Interaction with Farming Personnel, Payroll, Accounts Payable and various Farming departments as required, working with personnel and information originating from these departments.

· Assist in producing accurate and timely financial statements.

· Maintain current accounting processes to ensure that transactions are accounted for in a timely and accurate manner.

· Manage the closing process to ensure timely and accurate completion within established deadlines without excessive overtime and to allow for appropriate review and generation of insightful observations.

· Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.

· Provide support to accounts payable processing, including but not limited to vendor maintenance and approval, invoice approval and processing, check generation.

· Provide support to accounts receivable in processing incoming receipts and monitor the progress of collecting receivables and oversee collection efforts on delinquent accounts.

· Prepare and file monthly use tax reports.

· Prepare bank reconciliation.

· Assist in internal and external audit.

· Ad hoc analysis and report compilation as needed.

SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor's degree, preferably with a focus in Finance and/or Accounting

· Three or more years of experience in Accounting required,

· Experience in Ag, Manufacturing, Food industry preferred.

· Strong knowledge of accounting principles and cost accounting methodologies.

· Proficient in financial analysis and reporting.

· Proficient in standard costing.

· Experience with SQL based databases a plus, including data mining and report generation using Tableau or equivalent BI tool.

· Advanced in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Power BI or another BI application

· Must possess strong computer skills and be an intermediate to advanced user of Excel functions (proficient with vlookup/hlookup, sumif functions and pivot tables).

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

· B.S. degree, preferably in Accounting/Finance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to work on a computer or sit down for an extensive amount of time

· Ability to work the necessary hours to complete the assigned project, hours may include evening or weekends

· Ability to meet the job’s physical requirements, including long periods of sitting, standing, bending, and occasionally lifting up to 25lbs.

· Frequently stoop/crouch/bend/climb/push/pull objects to complete the essential functions of this position.

· Vision sufficient to safely perform the essential job tasks.

· Exposure to outside temperatures and conditions
