Purpose

Prepare, analyze, and maintain financial results in a timely and accurate manner for the Company.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Direction

  • Perform work under very limited supervision requiring the need to exercise independent judgement and discretion on a regular or frequent basis.
  • Position may include direct supervisory responsibility of staff to include hiring decisions, direction and delegation of work assignments, performance and evaluation, training and development, employee relations and disciplinary issues, compensation, and termination decisions.
  • Provide mentorship through counsel, guidance, and knowledge to junior staff.

At the Operational and Company Level

  • Assist with the development, implementation of and monitoring adherence to company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Identify, research, and resolve corporate accounting, auditing, and operational issues.
  • Reconcile and analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for management.

Do the Work

  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
  • Help develop Staff Accountant and other accounting team members.
  • Plan, assign and review work of staff.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Assist Controller with special projects to facilitate the effective functioning of the Accounting/Finance department.
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
  • Ensure internal controls and procedures are in place to facilitate the accuracy of the financial statements, safeguard the company’s assets and promote operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and present financial statements and related reports including but not limited to balance sheets, income statements, P&L, cash-flow reports, and budgets.
  • Interface with external auditors.
  • Collect appropriate data and prepare federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.
  • Process and store bank reconciliations, maintain schedules and files for such items as leases and vehicles.
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
  • Meet financial accounting objectives.
  • Contribute to the preparation of GAAP financial statements, which includes preparation, data analysis, integrity validation, and reconciliation processes.
  • Prepare various technical accounting analyses, policies, and procedures.

Education, Work Experience, Licensure/Certifications, and Technical Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
  • Relevant certification (e.g., CMA or CPA) preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of seven (7) plus years of corporate accounting experience.
  • Two (2) years of management experience.
  • Prior architecture, engineering, and/or construction accounting experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP.
  • Knowledge of Deltek Vision preferred, experience with an ERP system required.
  • Must have AP full cycle exposure.
  • Previous experience with mergers and acquisitions is a plus.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

  • Primarily indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
  • Mobility around an office environment.
  • Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
