About truCurrent and Distributed Sun

truCurrent, a Distributed Sun microgrid, mobility, and virtual power company, provides end-to-end energy transition services for Fortune 500 companies and other large enterprises. truCurrent integrates on-site distributed energy resources (DERs) with microgrid infrastructure, virtual power plants (VPPs), and off-site renewable energy projects aligned to regulatory and capital markets to deliver next-generation power plants at the grid edge.

Trusted partners rely upon our energy transition roadmap services combined with best-in-class development and financing solutions to reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and meet or exceed their environmental goals. We deploy infrastructure that reduces total cost of ownership (TCO), provides resilient and reliable electricity, and optimizes energy consumption to meet business objectives.

Distributed Sun (DSUN) is a renewable energy infrastructure provider founded in 2009 that develops, finances, owns, and operates solar and battery storage projects across the community solar, commercial and industrial (C&I), and utility-scale markets. It is among the largest community solar developers in the country and has developed and delivered systems in 17 states.

About the Role

The Fleet Charging Infrastructure Specialist will play a critical role in delivering innovative fleet charging solutions for truCurrent’s customers. We are seeking a candidate who has experience working with large enterprises to deploy on-site fleet chargers to power their medium- and heavy-duty (MHD) truck fleets. The ideal candidate will bring a comprehensive approach to fleet electrification, including systems modeling, electrical power infrastructure and control system specification, project management, and post-deployment instructional training. This position will be pivotal in fleet charging solution selection and optimization and will engage with truCurrent’s customers to effectively reflect project requirements, orchestrate charger commissioning, and monitor, analyze, and report on uptime and performance metrics to meet operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer sites to identify installation locations and optimal EVSE products based on market trends, regulations, utility readiness, load analysis, customer needs, and futureproofing considerations
  • Develop and implement EVSE project execution procedures, key performance indicators (KPIs), and best practices for on-time and on-budget deployment, delivery, and performance, generating regular reports for leadership, highlighting KPIs and areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute the initial deployment and expansion of EVSE projects, coordinating with internal and external technical teams to promptly address and resolve any deployment or operational issues, ensuring uptime and performance requirements are met
  • Support the development team’s engagements with utilities and other Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to obtain necessary permits for implementing EVSE projects and/or electrical upgrades to support site reliability and uptime, often in concert with solar photovoltaic (PV), battery energy storage system (BESS), and grid services considerations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field; master's degree is preferred
  • 2+ years' experience with MHD EV charging infrastructure modeling, specifying equipment, interconnection, and operations
  • Working knowledge of EV-related standards (UL, California codes, NEC/NFPA, IEC EV Comms/OCPP)
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical aspects of hardware and software commissioning and operations
  • Prior experience designing charging for electric fleets based on vehicle usage patterns, route profiles, vehicle battery capacity and charging specifications, and dwell time to maximize EVSE utilization and minimize EV downtime
  • Excellent project management skills with a proven track record of successfully managing multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with education and experience
  • Bonus compensation plan
  • Equity option award
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits plan
  • Career and professional development
  • Hybrid work environment
