About truCurrent and Distributed Sun

truCurrent, a Distributed Sun microgrid, mobility, and virtual power company, provides end-to-end energy transition services for Fortune 500 companies and other large enterprises. truCurrent integrates on-site distributed energy resources (DERs) with microgrid infrastructure, virtual power plants (VPPs), and off-site clean energy generation aligned to regulatory and capital markets to deliver next-generation power plants at the grid edge.

Trusted partners rely upon our energy transition roadmap services combined with best-in-class development and financing solutions to reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and meet or exceed their environmental and sustainability goals. We deploy infrastructure that reduces total cost of ownership (TCO), provides resilient and reliable electricity, and optimizes energy consumption to meet business objectives.

Distributed Sun (DSUN) is a clean energy infrastructure provider founded in 2009 that develops, finances, owns, and operates solar and battery storage projects across the community solar, commercial and industrial (C&I), and utility-scale markets. It is among the largest community solar developers in the country and has developed and delivered systems in 17 states.

About the Role

The Program Director, Energy Transitions, will play a leading role in executing clean energy and fleet electrification projects for truCurrent, ensuring customer programs are delivered on time and on budget. We are seeking a candidate with experience driving and achieving corporate-level program milestones for commercial and industrial (C&I) energy transition solutions. This position will be responsible for overseeing the deployment of multiple technologies simultaneously; as such, we are looking for a candidate with a proven track record of working on and leading successful projects covering a range of technologies related to corporate energy transitions, including solar photovoltaic (PV), battery energy storage systems (BESS), electric vehicles (EVs), EV supply equipment (EVSE), cold storage systems, microgrids, and virtual power plants (VPPs). The ideal candidate is able to expertly communicate program updates and challenges to internal and external audiences, deeply understands customer pain points, and prioritizes customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage comprehensive decarbonization programs across the United States from inception to completion, which will include detailed scheduling, resource management, procurement, risk assessment, post-deployment assessment, and continuous optimization
  • Engage with truCurrent customers to gain an in-depth understanding of their business objectives, decarbonization goals, pain points, strategies, and requirements to support project deployment activities
  • Maintain ownership of truCurrent’s energy transition plan for its customers, including identifying key milestones and risks, and effectively coordinate all program deliverables with truCurrent and external stakeholders
  • Develop and manage effective processes to ensure customer needs and truCurrent business unit objectives are met
  • Prepare and present regular progress reports to both truCurrent and external audiences, maintaining transparency on program status and appropriately escalating issues and challenges as they arise
  • Collaborate with truCurrent’s Development, Engineering, Finance, and Policy teams to ensure the feasibility and success of programs
  • Forge strong partnerships with internal teams, customers, strategic partners, vendors, and other stakeholders, striving to surpass project milestones and deliver exceptional results

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field; master's degree and PMP certification are highly preferred
  • 10+ years of program and project management experience, preferably related to C&I solar, microgrids, or fleet electrification projects
  • Prior experience working with large enterprises to manage the deployment of DERs
  • Expertise in Microsoft Project or other program management tools
  • Demonstrated experience in guiding, overseeing, and documenting complex processes, managing cross-functional teams toward achieving shared objectives
  • Proven ability to manage multiple programs concurrently, often with competing deadlines
  • Experience leading programs that require a high level of detail under tight deadlines
  • Expert ability to translate highly technical ideas into actionable program documents and repeatable processes
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills

Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with education and experience
  • Bonus compensation plan
  • Equity option award
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Health, dental and vision benefits plan
  • Career and professional development
  • Hybrid work environment
