What You'll Do:

This position is responsible for coordinating all activities within the assigned departments and will ensure the duties and responsibilities in each area are This position is responsible for being at the heart of LGE Community Credit Union's financial operations,
while leading a team dedicated to excellence in all facets of accounting. The Vice President, Accounting
is responsible for accurately presenting Credit Union financial statements to the Board of Directors,
Leadership, Employees, and it's Members. The Vice President, Accounting will be a servant visionary
leader who excels in powerful communication, and has a knack for empathetically connecting to all people across the organization. This position will continue leading accounting functions at LGE in an effective, systematic, and cost efficient manner that will carry us into the future.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrate enthusiastic support of corporate mission and long-term objectives. Perform job duties within bylaws, regulations, Board of Directors policies, established internal and external service standards and our work procedures
  • Develop each employee to their highest potential by identifying their strengths and areas for improvement. Appropriately coach, train or correct the employees' performance
  • Hold employees accountable for their performance and recognize employees who perform at a high level
  • Meet with each direct report routinely to review performance, set goals and develop plans to enhance performance
  • Train/supervise Staff. Assign, direct, coordinate and review work performed by Staff
  • Ensure that employees meet service goals as established by the Credit Union
  • Plan, develop and implement effective policies and procedures. Ensure that policies are in compliance with current regulations, legal requirements and industry trends
  • Develop short and long term goals and objectives for the assigned departments. Ensure that plans, goals, and policies are consistent with established Credit Union wide goals
  • Establish and maintain effective business relations with vendors, outside auditors, regulators and professional trade groups
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends, emerging technologies, and issues/changes, and determine their impact on the Credit Union
  • Oversee hiring and succession planning for assigned departments. Assess staffing requirements and fill open positions with most qualified candidate
  • Conduct performance appraisals as assigned. Provide measurable feedback to Staff and suggestions for improved performance. Formulate and implement employee corrective actions as needed
  • Compile internal and external financial records and analyses. Ensure that accounting records and reports are in compliance with GAAP and regulations
  • Oversee the preparation of daily, monthly, quarterly, annual, and other periodic financial statements and reports. Ensure that reports and filings are accurate and timely
  • Coordinate tax reporting requirements. Work with external accountants to file federal, state, county and city tax returns
  • Coordinate Accounting functions with all other departments
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Credit Union and external auditors and regulatory authorities for the Accounting Department
  • Ensure appropriate levels of confidentiality regarding Credit Union's financials and operations
  • Possess effective knowledge of the Credit Union's products and services
  • Maintain familiarity all policies, procedures and processes which have been established in order to meet compliance requirements of all applicable federal regulations. The regulations include but are not limited to the Privacy Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Reg. CC and Patriot Act

Who you are:

  • Required: Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field;
  • Required: 7+ years of high level Accounting experience and supervision
  • Required: MBA
  • Required: CPA
  • Thorough knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures
  • Understanding of regulations and reporting requirements
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, and direct projects
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities
  • Solid analytical and technical skills
