Job Summary:

Learn the financial operations of the company by the successful completion of the training program (may include on-the-job, self-study, and classroom training). Trainee will learn basic principles of accounting, treasury, investor relations, and billing services operations through a job rotation opportunity through six business units. A trainee will be expected to learn the business and support more experienced finance professionals. The right candidate for the Accounting/Finance Trainee position will be hired now with the group-training program set to begin July 8, 2024, for a duration of 8 weeks at our corporate headquarters in Branchville, NJ.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Accounting operations by performing accounting assignments including reconciling general ledger account balances, maintaining fixed assets, reviewing financial statement accounts for accuracy, posting journal entries, preparing analysis schedules, and assisting with month-end close processes.
  • Support Treasury operations through the use of automated/electronic banking systems, maintenance of long-term cash forecast for insurance operations, assistance with analysis of bank fees for accuracy, and performing fund transfers and short-term investing duties.
  • Support Investor Relations operations by collaborating with the Investor Relations and Communications staff in creating the company's external and internal message, ensuring all messaging is integrated and consistent. Assists in creating the publications and electronic media used in the IR program, i.e. quarterly conference calls, annual report, investor data packages, SEC filings. Provides data to rating agencies, assists with rating agency reviews, and creates routine analysis and reports. Assists in providing competitive intelligence from Wall Street to company leaders and appropriate operations.
  • Support Billing Services operations by processing payments for flood and P&C transactions, collecting and/or resolving outstanding direct bill and agency bill receivables including the coordination of dispute resolution and payment negotiation, and responding to internal and external customer inquiries. Requires understanding policy activity based on knowledge of billing systems, company operations, electronic payment systems, as well as program rules, regulations, and procedures. Advises management of any unusual trends, budget variances, difficulties obtaining information or other pending issues.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers/peers.
  • Must show sound, balanced and timely decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting and finance terminology and general application. Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Access applications.
  • BA/BS in Accounting is required.
