What You'll Do

  • Conduct field observations and obtain samples for testing, as needed in accordance with the project plans and specifications
  • Document field observations by transmitting daily field reports detailing site activities
  • You may also perform destructive and non-destructive testing on construction materials, including operating electric, pneumatic, and power-actuated tools, performing ground penetrating radar (GPR) structural surveys, pavement condition surveys, and concrete sawing, coring, and chipping
  • Perform observations of structural steel and reinforcing steel, including welded/bolted connections in the field
  • May also perform steel or concrete plant inspections which may require travel outside of the local office territory (accommodations such as travel, hotel, and meals will be set up by the office)
  • Work is generally performed at heights and may require safety equipment and training as provided by ECS
  • Daily communication is required with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers as well as supervisor
  • Provided training: ECS will train candidates in our methodology to perform observations, inspections, and tests of building construction projects related to your position and to document findings in accordance with accepted engineering practice, but you should have a sound understanding of building construction practices
  • As experience increases, ECS will encourage and aid technicians in increasing level of competence and skills through internal training programs and external programs of certification provided by ACI, AWS, ICC, MARTCP, NICET, NRCA, IIBEC, State DOT, WACEL, and others, as appropriate

What We're Looking For

  • High School diploma or GED

  • 0-5+ years of experience

  • AWS CWI, UT, MT, PT, and other certifications a plus
  • Position requires carrying 40-70 pounds multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 pounds to waist height
