About the Role

Johnny’s is looking for reliable, professional, and motivated individuals interested in being a cook at our Columbia Heights location. We expect you to have experience in the industry (and ideally behind the bar.) This is a “high touch” position; a desire to interact with our guests and bring positive energy is a must.

 

Responsibilities

  • Act as an ambassador for Johnny’s brand to all customers.

  • Perfectly follow recipes and produce quickly and safely

  • Prep and batch for quick and easy service

  • Understanding of operating commercial kitchen equipment

  • Understanding of basic cooking techniques

  • Understanding of kitchen and food safety

  • Act in the best interest of the business always

  • Align with the Values and principles of our workplace

  • Show up early for shifts and clock in on time.

  • Show up to work showered with clean attire

  • Maintain excellence in cafe presentation and cleanliness.

  • Greet all guests entering the store.

  • Prepare food and beverages that adhere to the company standards and training protocols.

  • Stock and organize food, serving items, and other items in the store

  • Complete any required training

  • Maintain knowledge of current offerings and be able to articulate that to our guests.

  • Dishwashing/bussing

  • Cleaning store according to safety and store protocol at all times.

  • Work on opening/mid-shift/ and closing checklists

  • Leave the building in a way that helps and respects the next immediate shift.

  • Stay over the shift end time as long as the manager requires when we are busy and continue serving later.

  •  Ensure overall customer satisfaction for primarily in-store guests.

  • Operate cash registers to scan merchandise and process sales transactions.

  • General cleaning duties

  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Acts with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promote the culture, values, and mission of 

  • Go above and beyond for the customer

  • Always make use of time by being efficient, focused, and speedy.

  • See customers and greet them as soon as they enter the patio or doorway

  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team

  • Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues

  • Communicates information to manager ahead of possible issues and in real-time

  • Adhere to all safety protocols•

  • Assists with new hire training 

  • Delivers legendary customer service to all customers by acting with a customer-comes-first attitude and connecting with the customer

  • Discovers and responds to customer needs

  • Follows store operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift

  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace so that partners can locate resources and products as needed

  • Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products

  • Makes multiple food and drinks fast and correctly at one time. Multi-tasking without mistakes.

  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance

  • Prepare food and beverages to standard recipes or customized for customers, including recipe changes such as temperature, quantity of ingredients or substituted ingredients

  • Stock and re-stock ahead, during, and after shifts.

  • Take inventory to ensure we are always fully stocked 

  • Be able to be a shift leader and manager

  • Be able to handle allergens

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Currently has or can get your Kitchen Manager License in within 7 days of starting

  • Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and/or holidays

  • Knows that calling off is a big problem for a small business and will only do so in emergencies. 

  • Knows that your team relies on you to show up to your shift every time. 

  • Knows that shift start time and shift end time is for scheduling purposes only. You understand that in this industry you need to show up early and stay as late as needed to get serve the customers, restock, and clean.

  • Meet store operating policies and standards, including providing quality beverages and food products, cash handling and store safety and security, with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Knows that you will never act in a manner that will make our customers, our business, or products, or ourselves look bad when you are around or inside the building (on or off duty).

  • Engage with and understand our customers, including discovering and responding to customer needs through clear and pleasant communication

  • Thrives in fast fast-paced environment

  • Can think on your toes and take initiative. 

  • Is proactive 


 

About You

  • Can provide references and resume

  • Able to work independently.

  • Outgoing and personable – you enjoy interacting with guests.

  • Able to lift 40 pounds of boxes or more

  • Strong communicator.

  • Able to take critique and make adjustments without negativity

  • Punctual and reliable.

  • Have previous food service/kitchen experience.

  • Has weekend availability.

  • Ability to stick to your schedule or make any switches needed ahead of any potential conflicts.

  • Desire to make the most of your time on the clock  (especially when we aren’t busy) to complete other tasks that need to be done.
