Job Description
The First Bank and Trust Company is seeking a Mortgage Banker in Lillington, NC. The Mortgage Banker is responsible for developing and originating mortgage business for the Mortgage Division of The First Bank and Trust Company.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Mortgage Banker is responsible for standard credit administration by reviewing financial statements, tax returns/documents, payroll statements and other pertinent income verification documents. The individual will review and analyze credit reports to determine creditworthiness. The Mortgage Banker will be expected to prospect and refer business to other bank business lines such as Commercial, Agricultural, Deposit and Wealth Management Divisions. The individual may be expected to participate in sales, marketing, training and strategic planning as part of the Mortgage Division and First Bank & Trust as a whole.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development and origination of mortgage business.
  • Establishment of relationships with realtors, builders and branch personnel.
  • Bank representative at local community functions.
  • Knowledge of mortgage loan documentation and underwriting concepts.
  • Organizational and communicational skills.
  • Cross sells bank products and services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates Degree - Accounting, Business and/or Finance
  • Work Experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five or more years of related banking experience

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Networking skills
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Math and accounting skills
