Job Description

Job Title: Sunshine Cares Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Job Summary: As a Sunshine Cares Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), you will provide essential care and support to patients within the comfort of their homes. Working under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs), you will assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), administer medication under the direction of healthcare professionals, and monitor patients' vital signs. Your role is crucial in promoting the health, safety, and wellbeing of patients while fostering independence and dignity in their own residences.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide compassionate and personalized care to patients in their homes, adhering to their individual care plans and treatment regimens.
  2. Assist patients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, toileting, and dressing.
  3. Assist with mobility and transfers, utilizing proper lifting techniques and assistive devices as necessary.
  4. Monitor vital signs, promptly report any abnormalities or changes in condition to the supervising nurse.
  5. Assist with light housekeeping tasks, meal preparation, and grocery shopping as needed to support patients in maintaining a clean and healthy living environment.
  6. Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and their families.
  7. Document patient care activities, observations, and progress accurately and timely in electronic health records (EHR) or other documentation systems.
  8. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, therapists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Utah-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program.
  2. Current certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of Utah.
  3. CPR certification required; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) may be preferred.
  4. Prior experience in a Home Health Environment or long-term care settings preferred.
  5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team. This is

  7. Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients and their families, with a commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
  8. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license may be required, depending on the job location and patient assignments.
  9. Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy objects and assist with transferring and positioning patients as needed. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  10. Flexibility to work variable hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet the needs of patients and accommodate scheduling requirements.
