Job Description

The Sr. Lead Wireless Engineer will provide professional wireless network engineering services including design, integration planning, deployment and troubleshooting of the client’s enterprise wireless network.  This individual will lead the clients wireless engineering team to support the design and operations.  This is a hands-on technical lead engineering position responsible for configuration and administration of all the technical requirements below.

Responsibilities

  • The primary responsibility for this position includes all efforts involved with engineering (designing, developing, installing, configuring, testing, and implementing) various WLAN/LAN task orders involving wireless network solutions.
  • Additionally, the candidate will participate in capturing and analyzing technical requirements; documenting detailed system designs, implementation plans, and operations guides of network systems; participate in both project and operational meetings; providing Tier 3 level support utilizing change control processes.
  • Responsible for the research and development of existing and new wireless technologies used to optimize and maintain the wireless networks.
  • Working with 3rd party and internal departments in integrating wireless equipment with current WAN and security infrastructure
  • Optimizing wireless performance while fulfilling security requirements for user/device authentication, encryption and intrusion detection, i.e., 802.1x RADIUS Authentication using EAP-TLS
  • Responsible for installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and modification of wireless network hardware and software
  • Provides tier 3 support with LAN/WLAN networks, client devices, including hand-held devices and associated LAN and WAN connectivity.
  • Providing Senior-level operational Wi-Fi support (troubleshooting and resolving network problems and outages)
  • Responsible for documentation of installed networks, to include systems design, operations and implementations guides, Visio design drawings, etc
  • Maintains the security and integrity of all wireless hardware and software.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Documentation (network diagrams, network device configuration templates, design validation reports, testing plans, etc.)
Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree, or a AS/AA or two-year Tech School with 8 years of experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technical area with 5 years of experience
  • A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in wireless and network communications industry is required.
  • Deployment and management experience with advanced security and network management tools like Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager, Aruba AirWave and cloud-based Aruba Central
  • Proficient with Aruba Wireless solutions. Familiar with Aruba 3600's and 7240s.
  • Experience with Aruba ClearPass, including 802.1X, Radius, AAA, policy Management, B.Y.O.D is required.
  • Aruba Certified Mobility Expert v8.x (ACMX) or Aruba Certified Design Expert (ACDX) preferred.
  • Aruba Certified Switch Professional (ACSP) preferred.
  • Familiarity with Survey analysis software or equivalent
  • Proficiency with Aruba's Airwave management platform
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches, Cisco IOS and Catalyst OS, routing protocols BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, VRFs, and TCP/IP, L2 switching and 802.1Q Trunking, Ethernet, and Wireless networking is required.
  • Cisco ISE and ASA Firewall and Palo Alto FW experience desired. 
  • Knowledge of NetFlow and NMS systems
  • Senior-level troubleshooting of complex wireless networks
  • Candidate must be a self-starter and possess the ability to identify all subtasks, prioritize work, and determine the tools / material required to accomplish their assigned task within the allotted time.
  • Candidate must have strong problem-solving, as well as the ability to interact well with both internal and external engineers, technicians, and customers.
  • Implementing best practices and applicable information security/information assurance policies and principles in the delivery of network services
  • Work experience across teams and functional areas
  • Knowledge of DNS and DHCP functions
