Job Description

Harsco is looking for an experienced CNC Mechanical and Electrical Technician. As a CNC Mechanical and Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for performing general and complex repairs on CNC controlled machines along with PLC controlled machines. The candidate must be mechanically and electronically skilled. Ability to read, interpret, and utilize both mechanical prints and electrical schematics in order to repair machines.

  • Technically sound, with hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing CNC and manual machines, PLC’S, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to utilize both mechanical skills and knowledge (pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, and lubrication) and electrical/electronic skills and knowledge (PLCs, A/C, D/C motors and drives, schematics) in our continuous process manufacturing environment to achieve machine uptime metrics.
  • Inspect on a routine basis electrical equipment, wiring, fixtures and other components to ensure they remain functional and are up to code, as well as to identify any hazards or issues.
  • Troubleshoot all type of equipment to determine the reasons for any malfunctions of systems or components and create a maintenance or repair plan to solve the problem.
  • Perform major electrical repairs and installations from 480-volt buss down to co-component level. Repair electrical systems, wiring, circuit breakers, equipment and other components so that they remain at full functioning capacity.
  • Test and repair all plant electrical facilities using devices such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes and ohmmeters to ensure the system remains safe and that components are compatible.
  • Must be able to interpret complex electrical, mechanical and construction drawings and or schematics. Reviewing the blueprints/drawings to understand the placement of wiring or to comprehend the working of the equipment to provide the right service and repairs.
  • Provide suggestions on the lifespan of equipment and other electrical components, advising when certain components should be replaced due to potential risks. Also, provide modifications to plant equipment to increase production capacity of equipment.
  • Keep records of all maintenance and repair work conducted, including a record of any supplies ordered and used.
  • Installs conduit and electrical wiring for machinery and cranes.
  • Ensure all routine maintenance work is handled on a regular schedule to reduce the risk of larger and more complex issues and to reduce costs.
  • Must have ability to obtain Journeyman Electricians card.
  • Crane inspector card is a plus.
  • Be an active participant in the safety process and practice safe work habits by the guidelines of the NAFP 70E regulation.
  • Must possess tools necessary to perform the duties outlined.
Qualifications

A.    Education 
•    High School Diploma and (Associates Degree) or 2 years of Electrical Trade School
•    Must be familiar with standard shop math 

B.    Experience 
•    3 - 5 years of CNC machine tool troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair
•    5+ years of general industrial maintenance and repair experience.

III. Preferred Qualifications  

A.    Education or Experience
•    5 – 6 years of experience in electrical maintenance 
•    Relevant electrician certification or license 
•    Familiar with the National Electric Code 

B.    Interpersonal Skills
•    Ability to write in a clear and concise manner
•    Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions

C.    Technical Skills
•    Must have experience using voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and ohmmeters 
•    Basic computer knowledge is required:  Microsoft Office 
  
D.    Other Skills
•    Ability to effectively plan and organize
•    Ability to communicate with others

IV. Essential Functions
