Rinker Design Associates, LLC, is a fast-growing design engineering firm with offices in Manassas, Fredericksburg, Virginia Beach, and Richmond, Virginia. We are seeking an entry level environmental specialist to assist with compliance of its transportation and land development projects with federal, state, and local environmental requirements. The successful candidate will have a genuine interest in ecology, environmental regulation and must be willing to perform fieldwork. A plus if you are interested in wetland delineation, stream scoring, perennial flow determinations, unified stream methodology, forest stand delineation, monitoring, wetland or stream mitigation, impact assessments, endangered species surveys, and vegetation identification.

Primary Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Assisting in regulatory coordination.
  • Submittal of Joint Permit Applications.
  • Wetland/stream field investigation, wetland delineations, and other applicable fieldwork.
  • Erosion and sediment control inspections and/or plan review.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, soil science, hydrology, forestry, environmental science, aquatic ecology, environmental law, or related discipline.
  • The candidate should possess general computer knowledge.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Create detailed documentation.
  • Communicate complicated ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • The candidate will be expected to work with web-based GIS and databases to produce maps, use word processing and spreadsheets.

  • MicroStation
  • ArcGIS
