Your options as a civil engineer are endless at SEH. You’ll engineer better communities -- complete streets, safer sidewalks, more sustainable utilities, and trails and parks. Others specialize in large-scale projects, like flood control facilities, dams, landfills, harbors/marinas, structural retaining walls and larger geotechnical projects. Regardless of the project, you’ll have your hands in the mix through all phases of a project: planning, pre-design, design, contract documentation, bidding and construction. What you will be doing:

• Assist the Civil Engineering team in conducting site visits and gathering data for projects.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians in the design and development of civil engineering projects.
• Create and update technical drawings, models, and specifications using computer-aided drafting software.
• Support the project management process by preparing documentation, including progress reports, proposals, and presentations.
• Conduct research and analysis on various civil engineering topics, contributing to the development of innovative solutions.
• Assist in performing calculations, simulations, and tests to ensure project feasibility and compliance with regulations.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure project deadlines and objectives are met.
• Attend team meetings, providing input and suggestions as necessary.
• Conduct construction observation tasks, including monitoring construction activities, reviewing construction drawings, and communicating with contractors to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
• Follow all safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.

Required Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Strong academic record with a strong understanding of relevant principles and theories.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
• Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) software.
• Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in drawings and calculations.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and actively contributing ideas.
• Flexibility and adaptability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous internship or co-op experience in civil engineering or construction observation is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of relevant industry codes, regulations, and standards
