Foreman

Job Summary

Supervise and coordinate the activities of crew members. Manage field crews in a safe, efficient and productive manner. Comply and enforce company and industry safety rules and operating procedures. Maintain a positive attitude, understand the company core values and demonstrates the best interest of the company at all times. This position is production bonus eligible.

General Accountabilities

  • Be able to lead a crew/crews on a project by assuring efficiency, developing a plan of attack to complete the project and assuring that a crew/crews are adhering to quality standards set by the customer and the company.
  • Maintain efficiency throughout the workday in order to complete all jobs on or before schedule.
  • Examine and inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and to ensure that specifications are met.
  • Be proficient in reading job prints and have the ability to change work tasks to fit what is needed on the actual job in the field, having the knowledge of individual customer specs.
  • Estimate material or worker requirements to complete jobs.
  • Work with the Warehouse Manager/Inventory Specialists to order or requisition materials or supplies.
  • Work with the Warehouse Manager/Inventory Specialists to ensure that all materials are accounted for on a daily basis and returned.
  • Manage, coordinate, or schedule the activities of field crews and other construction project activities.
  • Be detailed in all job reporting by being specific and thorough on job reports and assuring crew members are doing the same.
  • Check and inspect that materials are not damaged, inspect equipment, check vehicle for proper operating conditions (checking all fluids), properly secure all equipment and stock materials.
  • Must be able to read and understand construction prints.
  • Assign work to employees, based on material or worker requirements of specific jobs.
  • Coordinate with property managers, customers and/or home owners affected by the process of completing a job to assure a smooth, efficient job completion.
  • Train employees as needed.
  • Develop and follow through on a plan for each job site.
  • Ensure all company safety and OSHA standards are being met.
  • Shoring braces and other temporary structures per OSHA standards.
  • Recognize and identify utility locates and meaning.
  • Locate, measure, and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment, using measuring and marking equipment.
  • Record information such as personnel, production, or operational data on specified forms or reports.
  • Ensure that DVIRs are complete for all vehicles used by your crew daily.
  • Communicate with Fleet Manager for scheduling equipment maintenance and repair in a timely manner.
  • Clean job site during and after completion of work and properly dispose of all debris.
  • Complete any necessary damage or injury reports, etc...Damage report forms need filled out and pictures taken for all damages and turned into your manager within 24 hours.
  • Make sure that all receipts are turned in with the BI# and name on them.
  • Make sure that crew members are clocked out if they are not working.
  • Promote safe driving.
  • Provide a safe and secure jobsite for the employees to property and make decisions that make the company the most money possible. Manage your crews as if this were your business to maximize the most profitability.
  • Must be able to determine the techniques to be used and routes to take on a jobsite that are the most cost efficient and safe (which includes determining the type of materials, supplies, machinery, equipment or tools to be used).
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects, physical labor under adverse field conditions.
  • Attend and ensure that all crew members attend all training required by management.

Job Qualifications

  • Experience: 3 year of experience in the utility industry
  • Must have a valid drivers license/Class A CDL
  • Must be able to read construction prints and know how to do redlines
  • Must be able to operate directional drills, excavators, loaders, backhoes and forklift
  • Knowledge in the material, methods and the tools involved in utility construction
  • Knowledge in the safety policies & procedures required in the field & OSHA requirements
  • Must have OSHA 10
