The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for providing support for a wide variety of activities in the Human Resources Department, such as employee relations, recruiting, benefits administration, filing, and database management.  In general, this position performs a wide variety of both complex and routine administrative services.  Must be bilingual Spanish/English.  

Some of the Essential Duties:

  • Conducts all work in a highly professional manner, using discretion and maintaining confidential information with great care.
  • Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.  Processes required documentation through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate recordkeeping, proper payroll deductions, and correct benefits invoice processing.
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  • Completes employer's section on Forms I-9's, verifies I-9 documentation, confirms new hire's eligibility to work using E-Verify, and maintains I-9 files.
  • Submits and reviews new employee background checks.
  • Conducts audits of payroll, benefits, or other HR programs and recommends corrective action.
  • Assists with processing of terminations.
  • Assists with the preparation of the performance review process.
  • Assists with recruitment and interview process and recommends improvements.
  • Makes photocopies; mails, scans, files, and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
  • Files documents into appropriate employee files, which may be paper-based or electronic.
  • Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
  • Prepares new employee files.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED required.  Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Two or more years of work experience in a Human Resources or HR-related role.
  • PHR or other HR certification preferred.
  • Or, any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent writing skills using good grammar.
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Must demonstrate initiative to work alone on a broad variety of projects.
  • Able to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, and creativity to changing needs and situations.
  • Able to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to research, evaluate and analyze new laws and their effect.
  • Ability to keep information confidential.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to changing rules and regulations.

The HR Generalist's starting pay will be competitive and commensurate with the chosen candidate’s qualifications and experience.  This is an Exempt position, which is not eligible for overtime pay.
