While serving the parents and children of The Oaks Children's Academy, the teachers of TOCA have a great deal of freedom to express their unique skills, creativity, talents, and thinking while caring for, supervising, and managing a classroomin accord with the goals of TOCA andallchildcare licensing standards. Teachers of TOCA provide high quality, developmentally appropriate preschool/toddler/infant education in a safe and caring environment, helping children develop socially, creatively, emotionally, physically and intellectually. We strive to provide a healthy and nurturing atmosphere that will foster each child's feeling of autonomy and positive self-image.

Duties

  • Create an open, friendly, and cooperative atmosphere in which children and families feel comfortable and secure.
  • Lead teachers plan and conduct, on a daily basis, an effective child development program to meet the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of each child. This should be done based on the goals and general curriculum plan of The Oaks Children's Academy. Assistant teachers aid in the execution of planned lessons.
  • Initiate classroom activities daily (sing-a-longs, art projects, sensory exploration, outdoor stimulation).
  • Conduct focused observations of children
  • Ensure that childcare routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with the good child development principles. This includes routines related to diapering, hand washing, eating, napping and transitioning between activities.
  • Provide daily care individually to each child, including but not limited to diapering every 2 hours and feeding on demand.
  • Maintain regular adequate communication with parents through daily contacts and regularly scheduled parent conferences
  • Contribute to the effective operation of the overall early care and education center. Work as a member of a TEAM to ensure continuity and a high standard of quality in all classrooms in the center
  • This position will report to the Center Director
  • Further position-specifics will be discussed during initial phone communication


Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 months experience working in a DSS licensed facility (highly preferred)
  • At least 18 years of age
  • High school degree (or equivalent)
  • Be ENTHUSIASTIC about and have a warm supportive attitude and disposition toward working with children and their families!
  • Reliable!
  • High level of flexibility!
  • Open to constructive criticism in order to grow as a teacher!
  • Excellent oral written communication skills!
  • Physically able to perform the job of a teacher of young children!


Nice To Haves

  • ECD 101 (if not, TOCA will assist with getting employees enrolled)
  • CPR/First aid certified (if not, all employees will gain certification during employment with TOCA)
