Join a 4th generation business that has been family-owned for over 120 years!  We began as a mineral-exploration drilling company in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania in 1900, and have adapted with the times to become a manufacturer, in addition to the drilling side of the business.  Our Winchester, VA location is a hub of our manufacturing operation!

What you will do:

Build, assemble and maintain machinery, such as: High Shear Colloidal Grout Plants and the Colcrete mill, and portable cement silos. Independently utilize supplied electrical and mechanical schematics to carry out the complete assembly on heavy equipment. Perform service maintenance on rental fleet equipment.

PRIMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Use of electrical and hydraulic test equipment in an effective and efficient matter to setup and diagnosis equipment.
  • Read production prints, electrical and hydraulic schematics, to produce or repair items as specified. 
  • Maintain and monitor production equipment, perform routine maintenance, replace worn components required. 
  • Operate company vehicles, including heavy load transport vehicle to travel locally, regionally, nationally based on business need

SECONDARY DUTIES:

  • Perform field work to repair equipment or install, as needed.
  • Operate welding equipment along with plasma and Oxy fuel cutting equipment.

THE EXPERIENCE WE SEEK:

  • High school diploma or GED, required. 
  • Familiarity and/or working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic circuitry, required.
  • Strong mechanical understanding of equipment related to electrical and hydraulic components, required with specific experience related to: pumps, control valves, transformers, motor contactors, preferred.
  • Experience working with engines, preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose problems through strong critical analysis and logical thinking, required. 
  • Familiarity with welding and metal working equipment, preferred.  
  • Familiarity reading technical drawings related to flow control valve, hydraulic schematics, direct valves, motor symbols, motor contactors, switch symbols, piping and pump assembly, required.
  • Proficient in mathematics including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division without use of a calculator, required.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to multi-task, required.
  • Must possess good communication skills in being proactive, communicating status, ideas, troubleshooting tasks, required.   
  • Must possess and maintain in good standing a valid state driver’s license, required.
  • Must be DOT eligible, required.
  • Ability to operate computer, required.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position primarily works in a heavy manufacturing environment where the ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions including exposure to heat and cold both inside and outside of the building, and around loud noises. 
  • Remain on feet in an upright position for continuous periods of time.
  • Climb ladders and work in overhead areas.
  • Raise or lower objects up to 75lbs from one level to another. 
  • Carry objects up to 50 lbs. of requires employee to bend forward by bending at waist or by bending the legs and spine.

This division was moved to Winchester, Virginia in 2012 where we manufacture and rent our mixers, silos and tooling.
