Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce Job Description - Marketing Coordinator 


Reports to: Director of Marketing and Communications

Status: Full time, non-exempt, $20 - $23/Hour, depending on experience

Location: Hybrid

The Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce is a 1200-member organization representing businesses and the community. We are a non-partisan organization, but that does not mean that we remain neutral on all issues. The mission of the Chamber is to serve as a catalytic leader in creating a vibrant and diverse economy that drives economic opportunity and well-being. We're a champion for our community. Position Overview:

Are you ready to drive impactful marketing initiatives and shape the future of our community? As the Marketing Coordinator, you'll collaborate closely with our Director of Marketing and Communications to spearhead dynamic marketing and sales campaigns. This role offers a unique opportunity to showcase your creativity, strategic thinking, and project management skills while making a tangible difference in our community.


Responsibilities:


Strategic Communications - 30% 

  • Facilitate all content and logistics for newsletters/mass emails (weekly, monthly, and standalone), social media, and website, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Manage content development and administrative support to maintain Open for Business online including producing content, uploading articles, troubleshooting problems, tracking analytics, proofing, file management,  and cross posting to other platforms. This is done with support from the Dir. of Marketing and Communications
  • Support Dir. of Marketing and Communications in content creation, image sourcing, file management, and distribution of quarterly printed Open for Business magazine.
  • Implements project plans in coordination with the annual strategies set by the Dir. of Marketing and Communications.


Digital Marketing & Social Media - 25%

  • Schedule, implement, and monitor the Chamber’s social media platforms following the strategy outlined by the Dir. of Marketing and Communications.
  • Proactively engage on a daily basis with followers on all social platforms. Ensure appropriate tags and hashtags are used. 
  • Assist with the management of the marketing content calendar, ensuring all elements are received from the staff by the appropriate deadline. 
  • Measure and record periodic analytics to measure effectiveness, growth, and strategy.
  • Upload content to channels including Youtube and Open for Business to support member access, staff workflow, and advertiser graphics
  • Execute marketing and communications strategy to increase Chamber presence online and in our community


Advertising & Promotion - 30% 

  • Support our advertising sales efforts, forging valuable partnerships and maximizing revenue opportunities following strategies outlined by the Dir. of Marketing and Communications to achieve annual sales goals.
  • Process insertion orders and invoices; monitor accounts receivable; process past due invoices for collection.
  • Support project management for advertising - art received by deadline, placed in appropriate location, proofed for errors, and appropriate copy and links.
  • Upload ads and press releases to the appropriate website. Ensure the websites are updated on a consistent basis.
  • Assist in implementing general Chamber marketing pieces and campaigns as needed. 
  • Weekly and monthly data and analytic tracking. 
  • Auditing and using Asana projects to make sure deadlines are being met and tasks done.
  • Other duties as assigned by Dir. of Marketing and Communications. 


Event Marketing & Collaboration - 15% 

  • Contribute to the development and execution of innovative marketing campaigns for our diverse range of events and programs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align marketing efforts with organizational objectives, driving attendance and engagement.
  • Provide marketing support to event organizers prior to and during events, ensuring seamless execution and maximum impact.


Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, communications, public relations, business administration, marketing, digital marketing, integrated marketing communications, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Analytics 4), Canva, and Asana or other project management CRM
  • Strong writing skills, including creative, copywriting, and technical writing
  • Professional-level skill in social media management across multiple platforms, including managing multiple accounts, staying current with trends and best practices, and guiding staff support to add content
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail, consistent use of organizational tools, and efficiency working across multiple projects
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills and growth mindset; willingness to research new skills to achieve goals
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision while managing multiple projects
  • Availability to occasionally work flexible hours, including early mornings and evenings, to assist at special events and ensure duties are completed satisfactorily


Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Passion for connecting community members and businesses to growth opportunities
  • Enjoyment of the creative process and routine administrative work associated with marketing and sales
  • Experience with or ability to learn InDesign, Adobe, and Chamber CRM database
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn AI in workflow
  • Bilingual preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of website and database management; experience using platforms such as WordPress, Weebly, etc.; experience writing HTML is a plus
  • Creative experience with photography, videography, design, etc.
