Job Description

The Production Supervisor must possess excellent people skills combined with solid technical knowledge. Assist the Value Stream Manager in the development and management of multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Manage permanent and temporary employees. Focus on safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction, continuous improvement and 5S. First-hand experience with modern manufacturing methodology including Lean Manufacturing. The Production Supervisor must have experience working with short life perishables and in a manufacturing and/or production industry. The Production Supervisor is someone who is driven by challenge and success in a fast-paced working environment. The Production Supervisor will develop teammates to enhance their potential and must possess strong leadership to lead others. This position ensures the overall performance of Formulated, Ham, and Injection departments and often works with changing variables. The Production Supervisor position exists to ensure a safe and unadulterated product is produced, process controls are in place, and cost-effective production is met. This position requires an energetic, metrics motivated, and self-actualized individual that demonstrates leadership within their position. This position reports to the Value Stream Manager and will have the opportunity to lead projects and actively participate in strategic operations initiatives.

JOB DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

This postion is located in Mandan, ND. Relocation assistance may be provided*

The position reports to the Value Stream Manager and collaborates with other key management personnel to perform the job. Duties include but are not limited to:

· A Plans work schedules, assigns responsibilities, and evaluates work to ensure expectations are met.

· Responsible for interviewing, selecting, and training of direct reports.

· Conducts performance teammates’ evaluations and administers corrective actions as necessary

· Manages all teammates within the Raw departments.

· Engages in short and long-term planning.

· Manages ongoing projects and aids in the development of future projects.

· Ensures an adequate inventory of meat & non-meat supplies is maintained.

· Monitors and improves operational KPIs.

· Aids in the development of SOPs and process controls.

· Interfaces with Safety & Compliance department to ensure a safe work environment is maintained.

· Interfaces with QA and Food Safety teammates to ensure a high quality and safe product is shipped to customers.

· Ensures that all product is properly produced accordingly for Company customers.

· Interacts with Human Resources personnel as needed to ensure proper staffing and all teammates adhere to Company policies.

· Plans, motivates, and holds Foreman accountable for their department's performance.

· Adheres to all requirements of sanitation, GMP and/or HACCP standards, and other hygiene policies.

· Observes and practices housekeeping procedures.

· Goal oriented, confident, outgoing, high-capacity worker, able to work well under pressure and succeed within a competitive and dynamic environment.

· Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and personnel requirements. Goal is to streamline and sustain change.

· Adheres to all Company policies and procedures.

· Can work under little supervision.

· Maintains product quality. Work to identify defects and provide root cause and corrective actions as required.

· Will organize and conduct skills assessments and coordinate training to promote learning and address gaps in capabilities. Cross training will be a key component.

· Will be responsible to communicate equipment issues to maintenance and monitor timely completions of repairs and improvements.

· Will be responsible for conducting carry over meetings between shifts to ensure critical and pertinent information is passed between shifts.

· Performs other assignments as management may direct.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises non-exempt Production Team. Responsibilities include driving a safety-first culture throughout the plant; training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; motivating and appraising performance; reward and discipline of employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; develop and complete 5S and Kaizen activities.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

· 5+ Years Food Processing experience

· 3+ Years of Supervisory experience

· HACCP or PCQI Certification

· Strong analytical thinker with problem solving skills

· Bilingual, English & Spanish preferred

· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Office 365 programs

· Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record

· Highly organized and detailed oriented

· Knows how to manage overlapping projects and keep track of deadlines

· Effective communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

· Demonstrate ability to lead and motivate people

· Ability to communicate effectively with teammates at all levels of the organization

· Basic math

· Working knowledge and experience in Lean Six Sigma

WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee is required to sit; use hands to touch, handle, or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; speak; hear; taste; and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to cold/hot and/or humid conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The work environment includes climate extremes found in all areas of plant.
