Job Description
STATUS: Full Time / Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Branch Manager
LOCATION: Penfield Branch
COMPENSATION: The starting hourly wage for this position is expected to be between $18.37-$20.00 per hour. The actual hourly wage will be determined based on experience and other-job related factors, consistent with applicable law.
HOURS: 37.50 hours per week
SCHEDULE*: Monday 8:30 – 4:30 / Tuesday 8:30 – 4:30 / Wednesday 9:30 – 4:30 / Thursday 8:30 – 5:30 / Friday 8:30 – 6:30 / Saturday 8:30 – 1:30
*Saturdays are on rotation (2-3 per month), with get time off during the week for Saturdays worked.
Position Overview
The primary function of this position is to provide quality member service while processing member transactions accurately and in a timely efficient manner. Exhibit knowledge in Branch Operational Procedures and promote relationships by referring and selling financial products and services that best suit our member’s needs. Coordinate Teller operations within the branch to ensure the daily activities of Tellers are performed in a timely, accurate and courteous manner. The Senior Teller will support teller staff in adhering to building account relationships, development support and provide training & mentoring assistance to Tellers.
Essential Functions
- Represent the Credit Union with a positive, courteous, enthusiastic and professional attitude towards all members, colleagues, management, board members and outside vendors.
- Responsible for performing transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Responsible for balancing daily work.
- Answer in-bound teller-line member support phones and process telephone requests.
- Consistently make appropriate and timely suggestions/referrals of products and services to members.
- Make quality referrals to MSS specialists for thorough review of features and benefits of products and services.
- Make quality referrals to the Summit Retirement and Investment Services department.
- Meet sales goals as determined by management using CML.
- Encourage, engage & support tellers by example through demonstrating successful referral processes.
- Update and document information learned about members in Contact Event Manager.
- Adhere to credit union policies and departmental/branch procedures.
- Assist tellers in solving member problems, serving as an operational reference.
- Order and maintain vault cash (as appropriate).
- Make exceptions to policy as appropriate and within authority.
- Accurate and timely completion of required audit logs.
- Assist with the balancing, maintaining, and auditing of cash dispense machine(s), vault, ATM, etc.
- Audit ATM and cash drawers, according to policy.
- Research and resolve member questions, problems and concerns by telephone, written correspondence, or in person.
Other
- Prepare workstation at the beginning of each day and ensure proper inventory of supplies throughout the day.
- Completion of special projects as assigned by the Head Teller or management.
- Assist Head Teller with daily close-out procedures and any other duties as requested.
- Complete monthly reports to be given to management.
- Strictly adhere to the established security and regulatory procedures while maintaining security of the work area and member sensitive documents, ensuring that it presents a well maintained, organized and neat appearance.
Qualifications
Education/Experience: An equivalent combination of the following:
- High School Diploma/Equivalency required.
- Minimum one- two years’ prior Teller and sales experience.
- Prior leadership and sales experience preferred.
Skills/Abilities
- Strong math and keyboarding skills required.
- Effective communication skills, including listening skills, to build relationships and member loyalty.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to create positive member experience.
- Ability to cross-sell products and services.
- Proficient sales skills with the ability to recognize opportunities that meet member needs.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Work with minimal or no supervision.
Working Environment
- Must be able to sit and or stand for an extended period of time in a normal office environment.
- Occasional lifting required.
- Ability to travel to other branch locations for staffing assistance, trainings and meetings as assigned.
