We are seeking talented, innovative individuals to join our Accounting team in Tysons Corner, VA (metro Washington, DC area). Position is hybrid (in office 2-3 days per week).
Key Responsibilities
Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will play an integral role in the accounting function. This is an opportunity to solidify your accounting skills, and gain broader experience.
- Prepare and submit assigned manual journal entries, ensuring proper compliance with GAAP
- Prepare and maintain the fixed asset and related depreciation schedules
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Support monthly and year-end close processes
- Assist with external and internal audit requests and inquiries
- Support implementation and testing of internal controls, and propose remediation of identified issues
- Assist in preparation of monthly financial reporting and quarterly board packages
- Lead process improvement efforts where appropriate
- Ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Procedures (GAAP)
- Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Technology savvy with demonstrated ability to learn systems and processes quickly. Prior experience with Sage Intacct and/or Adaptive Insights a plus
- Adaptable and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Able to operate effectively in both a team environment and working independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field
· 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience required
