The Packaging Team has responsibility of the end-to-end multi-functional oversight for all packaging components, packaging equipment and packaging quality. Context / Scope: • Delivering programs on time, in full, and on budget while hitting COGs targets and maintaining quality is paramount. • Sitting within the North American Technical organization, the Packaging Team acts as a business partner to both NA Supply and ISC as well as Innovation and Brand Change, Procurement and Conversion. • This role consists of working with the project team to deliver technical packaging support through the life cycle of the program! • This role will develop technical specifications, complete specification workflows for approval, prepare and issue specifications to vendors. • They will also complete packaging Testing Plans to support the Innovation & Brand Change project pipeline, Supplier Onboarding and Conversion packaging quality concerns. • Packaging Lab activities will take place in the Plainfield Packaging Laboratory. Market Complexity: • As part of the end-to-end supply chain, NA Supply has an extensive network of wholly-owned and Third-Party Operation sites across the US and Canada. • In North America, Diageo owns and operates a network of manufacturing, bottling, distilling and warehousing sites. • NA Technical is an organization of 150+ people with a (USD)23M budget, operating across several locations within the US and Canada. • From these locations NA Technical leads the Technical Equity for Diageo NA Supply and Demand across the Diageo portfolio. Top Accountabilities: • Maintain compliance through Diageo commercialization process and collaborate with project managers, conversion sites and multi-functional team members to drive packaging development. • Support a variety of programs across innovation, brand change, and supply optimization and deliver packaging from initial scoping through commercialization. • Develop technical specifications for packaging components. • (shippers, dividers, labels, closures, glass & PET containers, and other components). • Conduct the technical development/due diligence of packaging components, inclusive of creation/routing/approval of any/all package specifications and handle specification workflows and issuance to vendors. • Complete Testing Plans specific to project details, including the completion of a Testing Report. • Complete testing to ensure functional acceptability, assure regulatory and product compatibility compliance and life cycle robustness of new package components. • Develop and implement packaging trial and qualification plans. • Consistently demonstrates pride and commitment to Diageo, behaves authentically, focuses on finding solutions, and develops positive relationships across the organization. • Drive the quality of our packaging quality from concept to consumers. Qualifications / Skills: • Requires a BS in Package Engineering or related Technical Field, with shown knowledge of product commercialization. • Candidate must have excellent interpersonal ability, working in a team setting, communicating with Stake Holders and Vendor contacts and working on different projects at the same time. • Packaging Materials knowledge (shippers, dividers, labels, closures, glass and PET containers)Microsoft Office software, Adobe Acrobat software (PDF bundling). • TOPS or CAPE software knowledge. • SAP and specification development knowledge is a plus.
