Reports To: General Superintendent / Superintendent

Position: Full time

Project: Moose Creek Dam - Fairbanks, AK


Job Summary:

The Skilled Laborer operates non drilling equipment or cranes and performs a wide range of physical labor tasks and assist with daily construction activities in support of the project. Must be skilled at following instructions from the project supervision to help prepare and maintain the job site.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None


Responsibilities of this Position:

  • Follow Bauer and project site health and safety guidelines and perform all task in a safe manner
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations as directed by the Project Manager, Project Superintendent, Project Foreman, or Field Engineer.
  • Responsible for safe operates one of the following:
  1. Skid-Steer
  2. Forklift
  3. Concrete pump
  4. Backhoe Loader
  5. Track hoe Loader
  6. Excavator
  7. Water or Dump Trucks
  8. Other small equipment as needed
  • Complete daily equipment inspection reports, and other paperwork as necessary
  • Perform general equipment preventive maintenance including oils check and refueling
  • Load, unload and prepare any tools or materials needed to complete the build
  • Perform physical activities and assist with lifting, positioning, and securing material and tools
  • Perform general housekeeping duties , i.e., trash or building materials remove from the site
  • Cooperatively work with team members through all stages of the project
  • Able to read, interpret safety warnings, signals, and guidelines
  • Receive and follow verbal and written instructions and effectively communicate with co-workers
  • Able to use hand signals to spot and direct the drill rig and other construction equipment
  • Function as a fire watch during hot work operations
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Perform other job duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Valid drivers license
  • Have completed an OSHA 10-hour certification within the past five (5) year
  • Experience required/Certification preferred
  • Willingness to travel to various job locations for the project duration


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and/or carry items weighing up to forty (40) pounds
  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather
  • Must be able to stand and walk up to 12 hours per day in all weather conditions and noise levels
  • May be required to work 12-hour shifts performing construction-based labor in varying temperature extremes and conditions.
  • May on occasion, work up to 16 hours in a single shift
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion from operating hand and foot controls of the equipment.
  • Visual acuity, depth perception and color discrimination consistent with that required of DOT medical certification
  • Able to mount and dismount equipment and maintain balance
  • Must be able to hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, as well as hear creaks, pings, and any other anomalies in equipment prior to, during or, after any lift or positioning of material/load.


Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to work independently and on a team


Compensation and benefits

$32.00 per hour
