Job Summary:


The Robotics Maintenance Technician is responsible for set-up and maintenance of all electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems on equipment used in the production process. Perform installation of process control and robotic equipment. Perform update modifications, preventative maintenance, and periodic performance checks. Maintain service records of the control devices and automated equipment, repairing when needed. Interact with all levels on the operational team.


Essential Functions:

  • Ensures operation of machinery and equipment by executing preventive maintenance requirements, interpreting technical drawings or diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and engineering specifications.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems with equipment.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical problems and performs root cause analysis in partnership with operations to solve problems and make improvements.
  • Performs programming and troubleshooting for automated equipment including PLC’s, HMI’s and robots to resolve performance issues.
  • Calibrates testing instruments and installs or repairs equipment to prescribed specifications.
  • Performs rigorous quality control checks and validation procedures on new installations or repairs to guarantee adherence to industry standards and specifications.
  • Develops, revises and reviews related SOPs or job plans for work related areas.
  • Documents and monitors and maintains computerized maintenance management system.
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Accurately document changes and updates to equipment.
  • Maintains and keeps track parts and tools, ensuring availability of necessary items for all projects and maintenance activities.
  • Maintains a clean, organized and safe work area by complying with documentation, procedural and applicable regulatory requirements including safety, environmental and housekeeping.
  • Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts and boom lifts in performing duties.

  • Collaborates with other members of the team to ensure that deadlines are met, while minimizing machine down-time.
  • Consistently abides by established safety rules, procedures, and regulations including wearing required safety equipment such as safety shoes and glasses.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
  • Identifies and reports issues to supervisor or manager.
  • Works effectively with co-workers and supervisors, sharing knowledge, resources, and experience to achieve goals in a timely fashion, while promoting respect, communication, and teamwork.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Participate in a rotating on call schedule to cover overnight and weekend emergency repairs as needed

  • Computer skills: Proficiency in using software and Microsoft Office applications, including software for maintenance tracking and reporting, as well as computer diagnostic equipment.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • An associates degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least three years of experience as technician and two year of experience working with robotics technology.
  • Advanced knowledge working with automated PLC based equipment and processes, interpreting and building new programs.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation PICs and HMIs.
  • Experience with ANSI and OSHA safety requirements.

  • Endurance: The employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time and perform physical tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exposure to elements: The employee will be working in a warehouse environment and may be exposed to varying temperatures and inclement weather conditions. There will also be frequent exposure to dirt, dust and grease and other compounds commonly uses in the execution of the job.
  • Noise level: The employee will be exposed to moderate to high noise levels in the workplace for the majority of the day, due to the constant machine operation, use of electrical equipment and hand-held power tools.
